Between the Randriod Corporatists who think they're the new Kings of Capital, and the Dominionists who think their particular vision of a hate-filled, jealous desert god's "love" will enshrine them amongst the Elect at the World's End (which can't come soon enough for them), nothing will get done.
These people live in their own little green-back plated world. They need to make sure they have enough in the bank accounts not to have to deal with anyone who could challenge their control of their world or their personal comfort.
Heck, if worse comes to worse, and half the planet is dust and the other half is either rotting or fallow under unpredictable climate, they have their technology and a huge digital library that will allow them to "experience" the world as it was whenever they want. Why should they care what happens to the rest of us? They have the means to pay for whatever is left...

If they invest in green energy companies? I'm good with that. One strong reason FOR dealing with Climate Change is that there are tremendous business opportunities.
