The targeting of women and girls in Manchester may have been intentional

MANCHESTER, England — At first, this one looked like all the others: randomly deadly, deliberately brutal.

In the last two years, mass killings claimed or inspired by the Islamic State have become a chilling reality in western Europe: unexpected and impromptu truck attacks, bombings, and shootings, in Paris, Brussels, Nice, Berlin and London. Manchester — where 22 were killed in an assault Monday outside a concert — seemed like just the latest chapter in a deadly saga that has now claimed more than 300 lives.

But then there were the details. Among other things, this was a concert meant to celebrate female empowerment, and many of the victims were young British women there to take part.

If, as claimed, this attack was carried out by an adherent of the Islamic State, the targeting of women could have been intentional.

she was 12 at the time, and I'm guessing that most of the attendees at the concert were in that "tween" age range 10-14, along with their moms and/or dads, or older sisters/cousins.

Perhaps just western society's ways may be immoral to them and all are decadent enough to snuff out for their non beliefs.

This time maybe the target was young women not adhering to their rules. They certainly are not into women empowerment. That is a fact!

Islamists consider free women an affront to Islam that must be destroyed.

Same reason gays were targeted in Orlando.

There are laws that are Constitutional that can be used to target violent cults and violent political groups. For example, American NeoNazis were imprisoned in WWII. I just visited an old cavalry fort in New Mexico where they housed Nazis (both domestic and sailors) during the war. I think they made them build national park roads.

In Europe, such laws are even tougher and have been used against non-violent, but seriously whacked, cults like Scientology.

It's time to call Whabbist Salfist Sunni -- note this is not all Sunni, and not even a majority -- what it is --- it's a violent political organization with a cult attached to it masquerading as Islam. (And, no, this is not Islamaphobic. Muslim countries do this.)

Close the Salfist mosques that preach hate, detain the key members, and expel the rest.

It would be good for the majority of normal Muslims and good for the West.

Islamic radicalism is responsible for these attacks and instead choose to blame all religion, you simply have your head in the sand. But that's ok. Keep on thinking that all religions are equal.

we don't need beliefs in fairy tales and all knowing sky gods. We know why the Sun pops up every day and goes down again at night. We no longer need to sacrifice virgins to guarantee it's return tomorrow. We know why things happen, we no longer need to believe in such manipulative bull shit.

No one religion is better than any other. No religion is right where others are incorrect. All religions seek to control and manipulate thought with the fear of damnation or the promise of posthumous reward. Facts, Science, Truth...this is what we need, not to assign blame or value to a member of one weird cult or another.

Sure, this attack was from a radical practitioner of Islam, but next month a radical Christian will attack someone else...

Islamic radicals view girls and woman as slaves and property, Western girls and women having fun and freedom insults thier fragile religious bullshit views. How pathetic. These scumbags and thier idealogy need to be wiped out, I don't care how but it needs to be done.

That seems fairly obvious. As is the misogyny in the choice.

Now, we might react by banning large gatherings of people, or music concerts, or what have you, but to do so would just be giving in to those assholes.

Somewhere in the claiming of this the word "soldier" was used. Soldier my ass. This was the premeditated murder of little girls.

I'm working hard not to be disheartened but we need some real brilliance in how to protect ourselves and our children from possible attack.
