It seems I opened up a can of worms in our country's largest Liberal site, DailyKos, for which I am a contributing editor. I am sharing because I think the topic is important. The article generated several articles, some in agreement that we are spending too many resources on Russia and not on working class issues. Others were outright mad at even questioning the issue.
Check out all of the articles written by the passionate authors ab0ve. I am of the belief that crowdsourcing opinions and ideas are important in our movement. It can be difficult to some because the blowback can be vicious and sometimes outright offensive. But we are Democracy and will survive the battle of ideas and opinions.

(12,344 posts)which loves gossip and scandal. How do we ignore our emotional brains that love to read about peeing prostitutes and immature meltdowns.in the White Hoise and instead get down to serious stuff like making policy. Maybe you can talk about this in a future blog?

(12,344 posts)but they voted for him anyway. They don't care if he is corrupt, they just want their own concerns addressed. We need a message other than "Trump sucks."

(47,209 posts)I'm only seeing the let's ignore Russia crap from people who disliked Hillary. I'm guessing they pushed he RT crap themselves and you know what- they OWN that. "Nothing to see here" isn't going to be sufficient. We need some honesty around this.

(39,343 posts)We drive out as many repukes as we can and we (indirectly) shame those who voted for them so that if we get our internal democratic shit together, we skate to victory.
No mercy. No quarter.

(12,344 posts)Right now we are mostly talking about Trump. It's easy, there is a lot to take about. But if your main message is "Trump sucks," that doesn't autaricallyean everyone is going to shoe up and vote Democratic next time.

(9,359 posts)It's not about having a "main message". It's about having a unified voice.
2008 taught me that the electorate can handle several issues at once, as long as everyone within the party is giving the same response to each issue.

(12,344 posts)We are speaking with one voice on Trump, but on what other issues have Democrats created a unified positive meesage, and if so, how many ordinary people do you think know what it is?

(9,359 posts)We're speaking with a unified voice about the ACA.
Let's be honest, focusing on any other issues is pointless until Democratic leadership gets their act together. The DNC is in disarray, Schumer can't unify Democrats behind anything of substance, and no one is focusing on lower level government.

(14,040 posts)I think Russia is a very big issue that has a little to do with Trump but has major consequences down the road. Meaning, if this happened once, they'll happily do it again. No matter the message, if Russia or any other foreign state sees a positive outcome by tampering with our elections, no message we come up with will matter.
