Russia probe reaches current White House official, people familiar with the case say

https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/russia-probe-reaches-current-white-house-official-people-familiar-with-the-case-say/2017/05/19/7685adba-3c99-11e7-9e48-c4f199710b69_story.html?utm_term=.b68f5fce5965

The law enforcement investigation into possible coordination between Russia and the Trump campaign has identified a current White House official as a significant person of interest, showing that the probe is reaching into the highest levels of government, according to people familiar with the matter.

The senior White House adviser under scrutiny by investigators is someone close to the president, according to these people, who would not further identify the official.

The revelation comes as the investigation also appears to be entering a more overtly active phase, with investigators shifting from work that has remained largely hidden from the public to conducting interviews and using a grand jury to issue subpoenas. The intensity of the probe is expected to accelerate in the coming weeks, the people said.

I'm sure these outlets are well aware that there could be fake 'rather' stories and documents released...they have to be super careful...many, many ways to make legitimate stories and investigations go away.

Though Kushner may have facilitated contacts and deals. But there were Carter Page, Manafort, Stone, and several others who could easily have done that. Including Flynn.

The hacks, leaks, contacts and disinformation campaign was probably aided by internet presences such as Breitbart. I had someone who ran pro-Trump FaceBook pages tell me he was getting paid by someone (he claimed it was the "Trump TV" people), including for his member lists.

perhaps involved in the cover up. In his briefings, Rosenstein refused to tell Congress who directed him to write the memo "justifying" firing Comey. He reportedly said he couldn't answer because that info was now under Mueller's purview. We know Pence was part of the group that met with Trump when the decision to fire Comey was made.

Wikipedia:

Charles Kushner (born May 16, 1954) is an American real estate developer. He founded Kushner Companies in 1985. In 2005, he was convicted of illegal campaign contributions, tax evasion, and witness tampering, and served time in federal prison. After his release, he resumed his career in real estate. He is the father of Jared Kushner

In the summer of 2004, Kushner was fined $508,900 by the Federal Election Commission for contributing to political campaigns in the names of his partnerships when he lacked authorization to do so.[12] In 2005, following an investigation by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of New Jersey,[13] U.S. Attorney Chris Christie negotiated a plea agreement with Kushner, under which he pleaded guilty to 18 counts of illegal campaign contributions, tax evasion, and witness tampering.[14] The witness-tampering charge arose from Kushner's act of retaliation against William Schulder, his sister Esther's husband, who was cooperating with federal investigators; Kushner hired a prostitute to seduce his brother-in-law, arranged to record an encounter between the two, and had the tape sent to his sister.[15][16][17][14] Kushner was sentenced to two years in prison[15] and served 14 months at Federal Prison Camp, Montgomery in Alabama[18][19] before being sent to a halfway house in Newark, New Jersey to complete his sentence.[18][19][20] He was released from prison on August 25, 2006.[21]

As a result of his convictions, Kushner was disbarred from practicing law in New Jersey,[22] New York,[23] and Pennsylvania.[24]

to avoid doing time if it comes to that? But he has the money to hire the best lawyers so prison might not even happen if he didn't cut a deal
