from Fox News to the Golf Channel

I have noticed an interesting phenomenon in my little town in rural southeastern virginia. This week this is the third business I go into that is playing the golf channel. The mechanic, the local dq and the local breakfast joint. All of them used to play Fox News 24/7 .

If I walked into a business and they had FOX on, I walk right out. In 2001 we went to a local restaurant, sat down, looked up at
the menu chalk board and saw "Freedom fries". We got up and left.

Miz t. and I were out for dinner on our anniversary.
Once a year splurge at a locally owned and pricey restaurant.
Had the filet mignon.
It was great.

An attractive younger couple (late 20s/early30s?) at a table for two across from us.
White linen tablecloth and napkins.
Lights were low.
A candle.

Both looking down at their 'smart' phones...scrolling, reading, texting.
We're screwed.

there were toys for toddlers.....a little guy, maybe 3 years old, was excitedly trying to talk to his mum about the toys and how they functioned, and she just never took her eyes off her phone, just kept mumbling uh huh, ok........it was sad

that kind of behavior sends messages to kids about how important they and their thoughts are
