Nostalgia......Is it just me? Or is........

anyone else mourning the loss of normalcy when it comes to the Office of the President?

Remember the days of transparency, coherent answers to questions, of respect towards those for whom the President disagreed with? Of smiles, hugs, warm hand shakes with Leaders of other countries, and amazed children in awe of seeing a President up close and personal? Of seeing the First Lady boogie with Ellen, getting her hands dirty planting the garden for the next growing season, giving her all for the betterment of the country with her causes?

Yeah, me too. All that is gone with the current occupant in the White House. It is if there is nothing to look forward to from a family in this for themselves and their bank accounts.

5. I'm currently in trench mode. I'll wax nostalgic once this particular threat is gone.

And the threat that comes immediately after him.

But, yeah, I miss Obama in the WH.

A nation can't move ahead and improve with a deranged orange peel up-ending everything, with the help of the GOP.

8. I long for the days when we didn't really think hard about Washington, DC because we knew it was in

good hands. We all went on with our lives, let those in DC do their jobs and we all sort of relaxed and not got involved unless an event or an election was happening.

10. As another DUer pointed out in a thread this morning, essentially, we have no First Lady.

The dysfunction of Trump' professional and personal life propelled him into a marriage with a younger "trophy" wife who has no desire to reside in the White House or assume the traditional role of First Lady. Yes, it can be said that she is looking after the couple's young son in his familiar NYC penthouse setting. But, still, Melania has shown little or no interest in mobilizing a staff necessary to assert her presence regarding social causes, diplomatic hospitality, or First Family public relations.

Who mentioned that. Melania Trump has been MIA all this time except for appearances when warranted to make things look normal. We all know that something is rotten in Denmark. America has no FLOTUS. Someone convince me Melania Trump has been so busy living in NYC to not have time to assemble a staff and work on things important to the country.

Or in another world, Melania has big shoes to fill after 8 years of Michelle Obama.Wanna bet the White House garden has weeded over.

Who also opined.

I am beginning to believe that Melania Trump cannot be bothered with the task of assembling a staff, a message of her own making and writing without plagerizing someone else, speaking from the heart without having to rely on a teleprompter, sharing her beginnings and struggles with others, or exposing her humanity as past First Ladies have.

Or is it that she prefers being hidden away in her Golden Castle on 5th Avenue to even bother to come out for some fresh air? This is why I and the country admired Michelle Obama so much. Even I was hugged by Michelle Obama in 2008 when she was in Rochester. We spoke for a few moments after her spleech. To this day, she still wears her humanity for all to see without any shred of arrogance or privilidge.

There was a calmness in our nation that we don't have now.

And I slept better, much better.

It's therapeutic (even though the sexism and homophobia in it are at times shocking).

I'm less productive, more irritable, and I'm not taking care of myself quite as well as I used to.

I've worked up a real disdain for half the population.

I need to work on myself.

17. I'm old enough to be feeling deja vu - it reminds me of the Nixon White House

When we KNEW Tricky Dick was lying and watched the progression of the investigations by the press and by Congress - and the obstruction by the White House.

I believe that is why the pardon of Nixon by Gerald Ford was not protested as much as it could have been. We all wanted to get back to the days when we could trust the White House and wanted to get back to normal.

Jimmy Carter really re-introduced that feeling. We knew his morals were rock solid and that he was not lying to us. Unfortunately that allowed Reagan to use his acting skills to play president and to lie to the nation and the world about so many things. GHW Bush just continued to Reagan lies.

I'd hoped that Bill Clinton would return us to a Carter standard, but his personal issues didn't allow that. And that lead us back to another lying Bush.

President Barack Obama's term was a refreshing interlude - but during my adult years he and Carter were anomalies in the White House. Every other President who has lived in the White House since 1968 has lied to the American about one thing or another - that has been the norm.
