Why Is Trump So Angry?

The president’s uncontrollable rage powers his ruthlessness—and his ineptitude.

Donald Trump is upset. He’s not happy about America’s preoccupation with the “Russia narrative.” He’s angry that we’re bothered by the possible damning ties between his campaign and a hostile foreign power. He’s seething over the Senate Judiciary Committee’s insolent insistence on scrutinizing his people. “He would sometimes scream at television clips about the probe,” Politico reports, in a piece that characterizes the president as “enraged” and “fuming.” He has sent furious tweets. “The Russia-Trump collusion story is a total hoax,” he ranted during Sally Yates’ testimony on Monday. “When will this taxpayer funded charade end?”
That rage resulted in the most famous Trumpian act: a firing.

It is such an odd, ubiquitous detail—that Trump is “enraged.” He is apoplectic, incensed, irate, vexed, sore, peeved, tantrum-y, mad online, mad offline, mad in a boat, mad with a goat, mad in the rain, mad on a train. The president’s rage, his defining characteristic, is not of the contemporary political moment. It is something archaic, mythological, like the rage of Achilles. How can you be “enraged” about an investigation that has already found clear evidence of your team’s wrongdoing and yet that your allies have moved mountains to hinder? Why is it infuriating that the American people want to resolve the question of whether an authoritarian country meddled in their election? A man with nothing to hide would feel indignant, surely, but not this all-consuming rage; a man with secrets would presumably feel dread or guilt. But Trump’s wrath is not the response of a conventional politician. It is the lashing out of a mad king against the disobedience of his subjects.

On Tuesday, that rage resulted in the most famous Trumpian act: a firing. Citing a Justice Department memo that he commissioned, the president ejected James Comey from the driver’s seat of the FBI—the agency that has placed Trump’s campaign under a microscope. In Slate, Phillip Carter called the axing a “public execution” and argued that POTUS had declared “war on justice … there are no shoes left to drop.” Press secretary Sean Spicer, fumbling among the bushes on the darkened White House lawn, seemed about as prepared as one might expect (from a person hiding among bushes) to explain his boss’s decision and assuage the public’s concerns.

Trump’s circle thought Republicans and Democrats would all rejoice to see Comey go. The former FBI director was unpopular; Hillary Clinton’s supporters blamed him for handing Trump the presidency. With the ouster, the administration had anticipated a “win-win.”

Did this overgrown toddler really think his celebrity and money would protect him from all scrutiny? He honestly thought he'd use the presidency to overturn every regulation that corporations find inconvenient (what I'm sure he really meant when he promised to drain the swamp), enrich his own coffers, and stick his fingers in the eye of every person who has ever offended him without anyone raising an objection.

He really is a stupid, ignorant, and vengeful man-baby. Maybe his impotent rage at everybody who is picking his life apart will be our ticket to freedom. No one can stand this level of stress for 4 years at his age.

Because he is completely unfit for the job. This was never suppose to happen.

And now, he is sinking around his group of advisors fearful to speak the truth and paralyzed to do anything to help him. He truly is his own undoing.... and i am ever so thankful.

He is angry because he yearns for the respect of elites who think he's a clown and despite his assertions to the contrary he has the respect of people he thinks are losers.

Is what it looks like to me...

And the explosiveness seems to be intensified when he finds himself cornered and when he has encountered a loss of situational control.

I also think that is why Melania has chosen to keep Barron out of this whole disaster as much as possible....
Living with someone who tends to explode without warning, and is also prone to exacerbated feelings of panic/anxiety, is extremely difficult for an adult to deal with .... and a nightmare for a kid.

I get that people expect her to take on the traditional FLOTUS role 100%....

But clearly she knows that the big orange bozo is in over his head ...,
Even without Russian issues to cover up...
So, given the magnitude of Russian involvement, she knows it would be brutally painful
And utterly pointless to subject her child to such an experience ...
as it is not a matter of IF but WHEN 45 is relieved of his Oval Office access & duties.

[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]He thought he could walk into the presidency and become an absolute emperor; then he found out he couldn't. I can't help but imagine what it would do to his enormous ego to be reduced to a paralyzed, incoherent-but-lucid mountain of flaccid flesh - unable even to berate the attendants required to take care of his lowliest bodily needs. It would be a living hell for him. Karma will come for him in some form, if not that one.

For example: Trump's non-stop bragging how he won the Electoral College.

He's not retelling this story to refresh our memories. He's retelling it because he thinks that it will impress us so hard that we will on our own accord choose to serve him.

This has always worked: He is THE Donald Trump and everybody wants a piece of his success. Except that this narrative of "success" has collapsed and he's irritated why people won't just roll over and submit to him.

He's being held to account for the first time in his miserable life. His habit of lying has never been an issue before. He's used to doing what he wants, saying what he wants and nothing having any cost to him other than settling court cases that include non disclosure agreements so they don't get talked about. We already saw the report that he's frothing at the mouth that he can't "make this Russia thing go away". He's lost control of the narrative and, like a spoiled child, is having a monster temper tantrum.

The reason for the partying and building the original Trump Tower in Manhattan to running for the presidency all have their roots in his desire to be accepted; first in Manhattan and latter to the nation and the world. He can't get past the facts that he will never be respected my Manhattanites or for that matter by most people. This is why he is so compulsive about the popular vote. The Russian's were able to groom him because of his desire to be one of the great and powerful.

All this is scary. He has this penchant for firing people. Let's hope he doesn't fire all of us.

I'm only half-joking about the latter, considering his diet.
