Donald Trump is hoping to convince the country that he fired FBI Director James Comey because of how he handled the Hillary Clinton email investigation, but he isn’t fooling Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who laughed off the claim on Tuesday.

On MSNBC’s All In with Chris Hayes, Warren said that “nobody in America” believes such a ridiculous claim.

Comey was not fired because of Hillary. Comey was fired because of the Russians. The timing makes this, I think, entirely clear. The fact that all during the campaign, Donald Trump kept citing Comey and using Comey. Once he was elected, he embraced Comey. And now to turn around months later and say, “Oh yeah, that was just terrible.” Nah, come on. For months during the campaign, Trump praised Comey, specifically when it comes to his work hyping up the Hillary Clinton email non-scandal and helping turn a close election in the president’s favor.

...because Comey wouldn't prioritize leak investigations over investigating Russia's interference in the 2016 election & Trump's likely collusion in that (treason).

Firstly, you can't prosecute & lock up someone who hasn't committed a crime (Hillary) and secondly Trump seems quite confused about what the AG (or acting AG) and the FBI's jobs are. Their jobs are to protect the US and defend the US constitution & US laws -- NOT to protect & defend TRUMP and do whatever he orders them to do. They abide by the LAW, not by Trump. That is as it should be. If Trump doesn't like that, Trump shouldn't be President.

His attitudes about what he apparently thinks the job of the AG and the FBI (director) are, tell us that Trump is indeed a DICTATOR. DICTATORS expect absolute loyalty to THEMSELVES, not national laws or any constitution - thus the nation they rule over becomes a lawless nation ruled by a tin pot dictator.

We are either a nation of laws, or a nation of men. I prefer the former to the latter. This is the constitutional crossroads we find ourselves at this moment.
