“We’re trying to put a puzzle together here, everybody,” Franken said. “And maybe, just maybe, he didn’t get rid of a guy who lied to the vice president, who got paid by the Russians, who went on Russia Today because there are other people in his administration who met secretly with the Russians and didn’t reveal it until later—until they were caught.”

just the way he is so knowledgeable, knows what he is talking about,

4. Who'd have thought it, when he was on & writing for SNL decades ago?

Who'd have thought he'd be a senator and that he's not only that smart, but good at articulating his arguments. But then, he's a writer.

He's so impressive.

7. Consider that Franken was one of the originators of the longest running brainy show on TV

Forty plus years and going strong for now many generations.

And first with the Cabinet hearings, especially piercing the DeVos & Sessions posturing of competence, equanimity etc, and now here...Franken is simply one of the sharpest, unflappable Senators. Whitehouse has been extraordinary as well in these hearings.

5. But of course Franken is being generous and presenting the more benign interpretation.

The darker interpretation is that what Franken and Yates perceive to be a profound liability, team Trump saw as a risky asset, something they were willing to take a gamble on in the giddy aftermath of "winning" the election. But Franken is right. If Flynn gets shot down, it pretty much takes down the whole administration with it. Republicans just hate it when Democrats try to steer them right. Because in their minds, anything a Democrat says is ipso facto absolutely one hundred percent 180 degrees to nowhere wrong. Like when the Clinton administration tried to warn Cheney and Bush about Bin Laden and Al Qaeda. What a bunch of stupid wusses, they thought. What a bunch of liberal panty-waists. Good thing the adults are taking charge.
