8. Cornyn, after questioning Yates on the flynn stuff, pivoted to

ask her about why she was fired for not defending trump's travel ban. She reminded him at her confirmation that he asked her if she would have the stones to tell a president "no" on a matter. She had told Cornyn that she would stand up to a president who proposed to do something illegal, and that's what she did with trump.

Cornyn asked her why her opinion over-rode the legal dept *** that reviews documents that said the ban was okay. She explained that that dept only reviewed the face of documents, not their constitutionality. He continued to press that she was obligated to defend trump's ban. She told him we are not a law firm, we are the dept of justice. Big kick to the nads. Then Dick Durbin was next and commented that three federal judges carried the same opinion and struck down the ban.
