An evangelical Christian conservative friend on Facebook, and a big Trump supporter, continues her ongoing rant against illegal immigrants. (However, I dont remember her ever discussing the subject before Trump made it a center piece of his campaign.) This time she posted a picture of guy who was obviously was arguing with a brick wall. On the picture was printed the following message, Trying to explain to liberals the difference between legal and illegal immigrants. This was one of the times I took the bait and replied on her timeline. When I checked for replies to my response in about an hour or so, she had deleted my reply, a sure sign that she was unable to respond intelligently. So I decide to share my response here. (Please understand that I live in Alabama so this response was originally written for local consumption.)
Total BS we know the difference, but in illegal immigrants we see hard working people trying to provide for their families and who are vital to our American economy. Go ahead and kick them all out of the country and watch the GDP go into negative territory and your cost of living go up. . . . .

(5,648 posts)Of course my holy "friend" (who at one time was having an extramarital affair with her church's music director) will get it all huffy, will call the post sacrilegious, and then delete it with all due fanfare.

(5,648 posts)They are used only dealing with their fake reality echo chamber, the fall all over themselves because they don't know how to have a rational discussion. And call me cruel, but I enjoy getting into arguments with political idiots.

(8,554 posts)In the past, whenever our system has hit shaky ground, it's always been convenient for our government to shift blame to those who lie at the bottom of the pit of hopelessness in our nation...ship them here to do the drudge, then sic the masses on them when their work is no longer needed...maintain that division so nobody notices who the real thieves and criminals might be. They know that one united workforce is their ultimate fear...the day that ALL who sell their labor stand up and demand that All who work for a living in this country deserve an honest wage, safe working conditions, decent health care and every other benefit, and RESPECT for the work that we do! Without us, they are NOTHING!
As a laborer in this country, I stand in solidarity with all who fight for a better life here! That includes any undocumented immigrants who may need to seek shelter during this budding fascist nation's despicable round-up and the opening of ever more detention camps as it tries to make criminals out of my friends and fellow workers! These are the people I hold most things in common with, NOT the cabal who claims to own me!
Human Beings are not illegal!
It's been 135 years now, since our country passed legislation to make some other immigrants become looked upon as "illegal" and it took more than sixty years to get that sort of nasty racism stricken from the law of the land.

(3,500 posts)We vacation in New England every summer and I'm already wondering how bad service is going to be. Immigrants do most of the hotel work, blueberry picking and food stand work. My wife has already said she's seen one place that can't open because they can't find anyone to help run the place. Dummies.
