Something as deadly as Ebola or an antibiotic resistant plague? If people are uninsured, they will not get the treatment they need and will continue to be out among the general public spreading disease like wildfire. The republican health plan could be absolutely disastrous in more ways than one and experts have predicted that we are due for another world changing epidemic or pandemic sometime in the near future.
Without a strong healthcare system that provides broad, affordable coverage, this could be a disaster of unbelievable proportions.

(80,708 posts)I mean, it makes sense from pretty much every angle you look at it, and what makes the most sense is a Single Payer system.
It would save everyone money AND save lives, the only problem is these assholes who are convinced it would force "me" to pay for "you"- except that's what insurance is, anyway.

(80,708 posts)prior to the ACA. Sick people without insurance avoid preventative care and then show up at the ER.
When they can't pay, the rest of us do anyway.
It's idiotic. It makes less than no sense.

A pox on their houses has real meaning. There is nothing like a public health disaster to force change.
Sadly this bunch know more than all the fucking professionals in all spheres.
May the pox reach them first.
