(62,444 posts)Are you suggesting that the administration is somehow not legally permitted to tune their televisions to whatever it is they want?
Under what possible stretch of the imagination would it be "illegal"?

(62,444 posts)You could say that no matter what the TV is tuned to. Were they "endorsing" CNN before?
Xipe Totec
(43,890 posts)As soon as they said you can only watch this channel, that's an endorsement.

(62,444 posts)The TV's belong to the administration. They can tune them to whatever "they" (the administration) wants.
There's more of an interesting issue on what does, and does not, get distributed via AFRTS (Armed Forces Radio and Television Services) than what is on TV's in waiting rooms over which the administration certainly has direct ownership and control.

(62,444 posts)I just find it odd that anyone would think it is illegal for a branch of the government which owns televisions sets to tune those television sets to whatever nonsense they want to tune them to.
They are going to be tuned to something. So if that counts as an "endorsement" of whatever they are tuned to, then I don't see how they could operate televisions at all.
I certainly wasn't "agitated" enough to believe that someone was committing a crime of some sort here.
But thank you for your concern about my feelings.

(51,627 posts)for my entire life. It helps a lot. Yesterday I really out-did myself and broke all of my previous records. Between sobbing uncontrollably and swearing at the top of my lungs for the past 24 hours I think my stamina has improved. As a former teacher this was one of the most difficult aspects of my job. I know all kinds of ""4 letter words" in a variety of languages as well as gestures so I can still do it without offending anyone. I think my dog has an extensive vocabulary too by now (if only she could talk).

(4,192 posts)It requires an edict from on high. They have to force the propaganda because it is so distasteful to anyone who cares to think for themselves.
Fox "News" is proof that we modern humans are not at the top of the intelligence ladder in human history. Safe bet we aren't even near the top, prehistory included. This despite all the wonderfully intelligent and talented people around today. The stupidity of others is destroying our environment bit by bit each day (again, despite having the knowledge to turn it all around for the better). Just shows that no matter how incredible our achievements are, the lowest among us can drag us under. Hopefully we can tip the scales to favor compassion and intelligence before it's really too late (assuming we haven't already past that point).
Thank goodness the universe is really good at recycling so not all hope is lost.

(10,048 posts)Honestly most people are on their own devices (smart phones, tablets, etc.). I have noticed even in doctors' offices waiting rooms few watch tv monitors if they are even available. Same thing at airports. The place where I got my car serviced last had free wifi and had iPads available at the counter for use if you wanted one.
This is definitely a stab at passive government propaganda and I am solidly against it, but it is almost laughable if they think it will have that much influence, especially at an FDA facility.

(38,326 posts)I have zero tolerance for ANY television news. I guess I'm lucky to live in a place where the most common waiting room television fare is Mexican football or cartoons for the kids.
I'd consider Fox News a hostile work environment.

(758 posts)Every home, every building, every business gets a free monitor that pipes in GOP TeeVee 24/7 without ability to switch off. If it gets unplugged, big brother will know and the van without windows will show up at your doorstep to take you to the learning place.

But why do they have monitors in the offices at all? I thought the Trump admin was clamping down on expenses. My employer didn't provide tvs for its employees or guests.

(5,275 posts)On a recent MSNBC show a panel wondered how we got here, why the republicans veered so far right about 20 years ago.
We got here because of pervasive right wing talk aka right wing propoganda.....which took hold about 20 years ago. All enabled by Reagan who got rid of the long standing Fairness Doctrine.
And it may get worse, Sinclair Broadcasting is trying to buy up a boatload of TV Stations...They think Fox News is not right wing enough and they smell blood in the water.
