Could somebody please explain to me what the Republican Health Care Bill consists of? Please keep in mind that I'm old and I have several pre-existing conditions.
I'd really appreciate the help.

(2,108 posts)The House Bill has only a slim chance of passing the Senate. Remember Senators need to appeal to their entire state not specifically Gerrymandered districts, so I don't think they can be as free wielding with their knife to our ACA.
I've read that the Senate isn't even voting on the house bill but rather they are crafting their own health care roll back.
We're not quite at the end of our rope. Close, but yesterday was more a photo op than implemented policy. Trump needed some good press and the subject of the Comey hearing off the front pages (as if).
Call your Senators!! They will pay attention to the respectful yet firm messages they hear from constituents!

(146,329 posts)Are you currently on Medicare. If so, you'll still have healthcare coverage. If you're not old enough to qualify for Medicare, then get as much taken care of as you can this year, under your current coverage. The Republican bill, however it turns out in the Senate, will probably not take effect until after 2018, I suspect, so you should be covered through that year.
But, it's a good idea to get yourself as healthy as possible before changes take effect if you're not on Medicare. It will take some time to replace the Republican plan after the Democrats regain control of government.

(6,127 posts)I'm 65 and I'm on Medicare, but I'm worried about my prescription coverage under Plan D.
Before the ACA, there was a "donut hole", which meant that I'd have to pay full price for medications after I'd been covered for a certain amount. The ACA eliminated the donut hole. If I have to start paying full price again, I'll just have to go without.
