Military perplexed after Trump says soldiers couldn't get religious items

the Liar-in-Chief lies again....

Donald Trump's big, bizarre religious day

Washington (CNN)When President Donald Trump signed an executive order promoting religious liberty on Thursday, he singled out the US military for preventing troops from receiving religious items.

"People were forbidden from giving or receiving religious items at a military hospital where our brave service members were being treated, and when they wanted those religious items," Trump said at the signing ceremony. "These were great, great people. These are great soldiers. They wanted those items. They were precluded from getting them."

It was a comment that raised eyebrows at the Pentagon.

Pentagon officials are adamant there is no policy that prohibits members of the military from receiving religious items at military installations.

Good news: ACLU STATEMENT ON SO-CALLED ‘RELIGIOUS FREEDOM’ EXECUTIVE ORDER

'“Today’s executive order signing was an elaborate photo-op with no discernible policy outcome. After careful review of the order’s text we have determined that the order does not meaningfully alter the ability of religious institutions or individuals to intervene in the political process. The order portends but does not yet do harm to the provision of reproductive health services.

“President Trump’s prior assertion that he wished to ‘totally destroy’ the Johnson Amendment with this order has proven to be a textbook case of ‘fake news.’

“The directive to federal agencies to explore religious-based exceptions to healthcare does cue up a potential future battle, but as of now, the status quo has not changed.'>>>

We know that President Trump has to skedaddle out of town again, which is why the House Republicans jammed through a bill they hadn't read and that the CBO hadn't scored, because they wanted a "win" before the weekend so all their vacant-eyed fans would still love them.

When they kept getting into trouble for pressuring soldiers and sailors to accept their Jesus or be consigned to hell instead of performing their job in accordance with Regulations.
I was doing an install on a carrier once where the CO threw the Chaplin and all his assistants off the ship for posting personal info about crew members who were trying to seek help from the Chaplins Office, but weren't willing to be baptized and do the recommended pentinence as the price for getting that help from that bigoted a-hole hiding behind his cross and oak leaves. It's even worse in the Air Farce, with those thrice-damned Oafkeepers playacting as being some sort of Gawd-warrior to protect their resentful, fearful little egos from the real world where they aren't in charge.

These so-called Christians think they get extra brownie points passing out religious bribes for the God they created, as if anyone with half a brain is just waiting for the right God to come up to their workbench and sweep them off to "heaven", like the final scene in "An Officer and A Gentleman"...

Something about Turbans or the other religious objects they carry and wear that someone decided could be plausibly massaged into something to cater to the the persecution complex of the Evangelicals?

They really do live to be victims, a side effect of a belief system that venerates martyrs I suppose.

It sounds like the anti-atheist hysteria they promote on Faux. You know what I'm talking about, how they take one unsubstantiated allegation and spin it into a secular conspiracy against poor persecuted Christians.

Like ZOMG THEY WONT LET OUR CHILDREN PRAY IN SCHOOL!!!

Or ZOMG THEY'RE INDOCTRINATING CHILDREN INTO ISLAM!!!

Outdated memo from Walter Reed Hospital in 2011. Resended 5 years ago. Trump must be on my Brother-in-Law's email list. Seems to circulate stuff years out of date if it makes his point.

THE FACTS: The policy, in 2011, was a bungled rule that was never enforced, Walter Reed officials said at the time. So it’s unlikely that patients who

wanted a Bible or religious item from a visiting family member or friend were denied.
