and I saw this predictable comment from a "news" anchor after a report on the "God Particle":
Arthel Neville: "Huuh. OK, Greg Palkot. Thank you very much. " She turns to her co-host and continues) I gotta tell you something-Mad respect for scientists, but I'm a Catholic girl. I don't know 'bout all that. Just sayin'. Just my two cents."
What a joke they are over there at Faux.
ETA: I just saw Palkot's piece again with Megan Kelly this time, and after Palkot read Sec. Chu's statement: "This shows the benefit of sustained investment in basic science by scientists-by governments-all around the world," (he incorrectly said "by scientists" and corrected himself to say, "by governments" and Megan replied, "Huh? (She laughs) I don't understand that, but thank you for trying, Greg Palkot. (she laughs again) You know, we little-brained people cannot hold on to these big-brained stories. (She laughs more) Sounds like something important happened, though."
I must stop watching Faux. I now know why their viewers are so uninformed and proud of it!

(13,985 posts)I love msnbc, but who wants to spend what's left of our free time watching inmates? They should rather go off air for a few hours a day and spare us.

(15,189 posts)Smart people to cover today. Some had fill ins since Monday. I bet the ones who don't have their own show would have gladly been on the air today. Their prison shows SUCK. If not news, why not something about history and the 4th of July. Why not use the time to learn something rather than watching losers in jail.

(47,573 posts)but they're gradually phasing out the tabloid type programming. It wasn't that long ago that we got "Lock up" weeknights after midnight and now they replay Rachel, Hardball, Lawrence O'Donnell, etc. They added Chris Hayes and Melissa Harris-Perry to their weekend schedule and they have just started playing encores of Rock Center.
They've come a long way in the past few years. I look forward to the day when the prison shows are gone for good. How can anyone watch them? They are so depressing.

(178 posts)I suppose some people tune in for the prison shows, but I turn the channel.
It feels almost as cheesy as those networks that play infomercials on the weekends.
Cmon NBC, step up.
How about some real, old-style, in-depth, investigative reporting.
Use these same film crews and go investigate some corporate or governmental wrongdoing.
There's room for other more cerebral programming also.
Try to be more like PBS or CSPAN than Fox, and we libs will watch.

(21,925 posts)showing men about to go to prison. Or do they still show that series after the prison shows? I switch over to the old movies on TCM on week-ends.

(24,689 posts)Its incredibly significant but its not the ultimate final piece of the puzzle. We are far from that.
If anything can be characterized as "God" in physics, as we know it, its energy. Bosons, quarks, electrons, protons, neutrons, photons, etc are just sub-atomic functional entities that facilitate the transformation of energy into "real world" objects such as atoms and elements and light.
At least that is my view as an amateur theorectical physicist.
and your view sounds right to me-not even an AMATEUR theoretical physicist.

(36,974 posts)I didn't see the whole thing but I'd bet money on it that the issue of Joe Walsh bashing Tammy Duckworth never came up.
The whole time I was watching I keep thinking - 'Hey Walsh, the troops DO talk about their injuries - you asshole'

Yeah, I saw the Vets condemning Walsh on MSNBC yesterday. Good for them for calling for Walsh's resignation.
