President Donald Trump on Tuesday said a shutdown of the U.S. government would be necessary in order to fix the mess in Congress. The reason for the plan negotiated between the Republicans and Democrats is that we need 60 votes in the Senate which are not there! Trump tweeted. We either elect more Republican Senators in 2018 or change the rules now to 51%. Our country needs a good shutdown in September to fix miss! he added. Trump is likely referring to the funding agreement reached between Democratic and Republican leaders on Capitol Hill in which he did not get his desired funding immediately for items such as a border wall with Mexico.

(5,334 posts)Now, from his lying mouth have come many stupid, outrageous, and obscene thoughts and opinions... so this latest one doesn't surprise me... but I consider this to be his most indefensible blabber yet.
The so-called head of our government has called for a shutdown? REALLY? How is that not an indictment of his OWN ability at management? This was the guy who was supposed to be the ultimate negotiator, the only guy who could fix things, the guy who would do so much winning we would get tired of winning, the guy who when he said do something his underlings would do it, the guy who had no problem leading people? He just slammed his own foot into his lying, narcissistic mouth.
But that's not the worst part. Of what harm is to him and to his similarly rich family and donors if the government shuts down? Not much.... But to that middle class family who depends on a functioning government, or to that retired worker who depends on a Social Security check, or to that sick older person who needs Medicare, or to that border agent, or to that soldier, or to that postal worker, or to those countless other people... it MEANS A GREAT DEAL OF HARM.
It boggles me that the same man who asserted yesterday that Andrew Jackson could have avoided the Civil War and who models himself after Jackson admits today that it's not within his own negotiation and management skills to avoid a government shutdown. It's petulant. It's childish. It's sore loserism. He finds presidenting hard (which he stupidly never expected), can't get his way, so wants to shut it all down.
So now I'll just repeat: he's a stupid national disgrace.
