The scary thing about it was that it was exactly the same as his campaign rallies. Exactly the same.
He's not going to change, people.

The GOP congress and the media have shown that he's all but untouchable, so what possible incentive could he have to change?

(10,109 posts)All these paid political commentators, oh he will pivot, blah blah blah blah. I haven't watched one of those shows since the election, and I was an addict, it has helped.

(5,754 posts)The longer he keeps saying the same thing, and the longer folks see what has and hasn't happened, the more they will realize that he is a snake oil salesman. When health care is taken away, and taxes for middle class folks go up, they will notice. Finally. Not everyone who voted for Trump is a skinhead.

(50,310 posts)How does a person not know by now they were conned by the ultimate con man? Those crazies would line up to vote for him for 2020 in a heartbeat.

(16,093 posts)Ask those Germans who stuck with Hitler, to the very end of his regime...because it's the same mentality! It's based on their hatred of diversity, their fear of change, and their delusional acceptance that they are the "Master Race"!!!!

(901 posts)dump tRump, but instead, no matter what he says or does, they lick his boots. They LOVE that he's aggressive towards immigrants and obviously is a racist and bigot.

(21,210 posts)It was fascinating how many people stuck with him to end despite the devastation and death of so many Germans. I got kind of anxious watching thinking about where we are today with chump and his followers. They are replaying it tonight or early Tuesday am pst at 12:00 am. It was so enlightening and scary. I saw footage I had never seen before that was gruesome.

(5,801 posts)If his adherents were rational people they wouldn't have voted for dump in the first place.
They follow him out of hatred and fear, and those emotions will override all of the other considerations, i.e. that he is screwing them in every other way. As long as he keeps the hatred flowing, that's all he needs to keep them voting for him.
One thing he's good at is conning rubes, and he senses the way forward to keep doing so--hence the hate-filled rallies which will continue until the next election.

(23,971 posts)he loves the adulation of the rubes far more than any of the activities associated with democratic governance. he's a natural snake-oil salesman, so expect more and more of that.
time for Democrats to counter with a sales campaign of our own. oh wait, forgot we don't do that, because the inherent truth and rightness of our positions always shines through and leads us inexorably to victory.

(43,199 posts)He just continues to promise and promise on things he knows he can't deliver. It inevitably will fall apart and he knows that.
Question is, what happens when it falls apart and he's still President?
0rganism
(23,971 posts)which has a decent chance of success because
1. Democrats are actually ideologically opposed to much of his batshit insane agenda and probably will attempt to obstruct it in every way possible
2. Democrats suck at messaging and apparently have no idea how to coordinate a catchy response to his continuous stream of destructive bullshit
leaving Trump free to promise whatever he likes to the GOP base
