(63,221 posts)Fortunately it has cooled down a bit today. I really dislike the heat. Especially since they don't turn the AC on in my apt building until Memorial Day weekend.

(9,808 posts)We don't plant frost intolerant plants until Mother's Day, and it's an unusual year when we don't get a late April or early May snow storm. We usually make up the growing season on the back end, with a long, warm autumn, but most gardeners plant Siberian tomatoes, which have a short growing season and are frost tolerant to 28 degrees. We've got about a foot of wet, heavy stuff in Denver Metro. The fact that it's wet and heavy is unusual for our normal snow -- high altitude means dry, light powder is our norm -- but heavy-wet is also not unusual for the mid-spring snow storms.
We don't complain about precipitation. That's asking the rain gods to take notice and stop sending it.

(17,984 posts)Snow up there was minimal. They had maybe a couple of inches, and it melted. All bare ground. I guess we are just special.
