The White House and the Republican leadership have decided to stonewall all efforts to investigate any collusion between Trump team and the Russians. Nothing is likely to happen unless Democrats take back the House in November 2018.
Until then, they should point out that the Republicans are covering up for Donald Trump and they can do little about it unless the people vote out the complicit Republicans.
It is up to the people, the voters of this country, to decide if they are happy with a criminal enterprise running our country?

(111,110 posts)So, he is all in.
And the Repubs have no plans to impeach.
So, tell me what might happen if Democrats do not take back the House?

(1,046 posts)himself King and Ruler of the Kingdom of America before then. You're assuming a House to take in the first place.
It's up to Schneiderman to unfuck this mess, and hopefully quickly.

(111,110 posts)But I have not seen the sense of urgency to save our country? All I see is Republicans stonewalling.

(51,691 posts)So let's figure out how to take Shitler down now. Dems like Cummings and Schiff should continue to raise hell at their respective investigative committees. We should never lay down and just wait for 2018. That would be a huge mistake and a gift to the Republicans. We cannot put our outrage on simmer and wait for 2018. Our Democracy was raped. We need to scream it and shame the shit out of these GOP assholes. Vulnerable Republicans may wilt under the pressure, fearing their own reelection chances, and may help force Shitler out.
By fighting like hell now we will also inspire Dems to come out in 2018. If we don't, voters may stay home. So defeatism is not an option.

(111,110 posts)It is very urgent and if we do nothing, the election of 2018 is the only option left.
I agree with you but sometimes we have to play the devil's advocate.

(13,421 posts)As long as it is a "fringe issue" the investigations are on paper only. Just as soon as it becomes an honest to gosh "re-election issue" we'll see some interest. IF the impression is that the Russian issue might cost seats, suddenly it is something they are gonna act on. This is exactly the wrong time to sid-down and be quiet.

(111,110 posts)But I don't see a Democratic Party that is strong enough to put pressure on them to get off the dime.
We can only continue to report on the information we have but it is up to the Democratic leadership to put the heat on them.

(13,421 posts)As a purely practical matter, Dems can't force the issue. That's very true. This is gonna be a war of attrition, I believe. I truly think that this is something that can and will break against the GOP, but it will take an extended effort and it will ultimately have to get to the point that addressing it scares them less than facing unhappy voters. To be honest, I'm drawing a lot of this from the observations of the Watergate thing. If you remember, that took a while to build too. There was not a lot of interest in it at the legislative level at first.
Just keep beating the drum. They will hear it sooner or later. (Feeling kinda like the old sarge dispensing life advice to the FNGs these days!)
Peace.

(13,421 posts)Darcy is soon gonna be 20 (in just over a month!) and she's at ISU. Majoring in History with a Poli-Sci minor (such a surprise!) and she's kicking ass. She was 2 tenths of a point off a perfect four point last semester. Dating a hockey player from LaGrange.
I'm proud of her.
I still am in appraisal work, and Kev is still doing computer work. We are still doing political stuff. My latest project has been a total hoot, and I'm having a blast.
On Facebook see this page: Flat Rodney's Big Adventure
We are trolling hell out of the GOP Congressman in the 13th. He's a total pig and has been blowing tRump and Ryan every step of the way. Refuses to have a town hall and the only time he'll talk to anybody is if they either are holding out a checkbook or a microphone. I seriously cannot begin to explain how much I have enjoyed this one! WaPo talked about FlatRodney in one of the online columns, and Mother Jones has had something that mentioned him. He's developed a following locally. He's also on twitter, @FlatRodneyDavis. Last I heard, he's coming to Chicago in June for the People's Summit at McCormick place. They say Michael Moore and a bunch of other progressives will be there, I'm hoping they come back with some pictures!
How 'bout you? What's going with you and the family?

(13,421 posts)I see that you were looking over Flat Rodney's page. Thanks for the share! Any time somebody likes him well enough to play along and even share, it's a big deal to me! Yeah, I'm kinda lame like that...
Thanks for the invite--that is spectacularly generous! I have no idea what we are even looking at as far as availability that weekend. LORD knows we've been kinda busy with the Flat Dude, and I don't see that letting up anytime soon. Let me check on it!
Again, thank you!

(9,670 posts)We need to beat this drum over and over and over again.
We need the Democratic Party to overwhelm the media with this with Benghazi-like zeal.
We need to run a coordinated message in all the 2018 campaigns, that Republicans are impeding justice, that they are deceiving Americans about their true loyalties, that they lie, that they bait and switch, and they need to be very explicit about all the instances in which Trump and the Republican Congress have stonewalled any investigations into the truth.
Yes, we need to get OUR message across. But a big part of that message needs to be that casting a vote for the opposition is the most unpatriotic thing an American could do.
