I heard this on the morning "news update" on the local right wing radio station on the way to work this morning.
Wall funding fight moved back until the fall.
Repeal of Obamacare will have to wait until the govt shutdown is averted.
I checked google on it and as per the norm there are a variety of news reports saying this and one part of the White House confirms it but another part says the opposite.

(16,423 posts)President Trump signaled to a gathering of conservative media reporters on Monday that he may be open to delaying the funding of his proposed border wall.
The president said -- according to tweets from conservative media at the gathering this evening -- that his administration could get the funding for the wall this week or they could come back to it in September.
...
It's good for the country that President Trump is taking the wall off the table in these negotiations. Now the bipartisan and bicameral negotiators can continue working on the outstanding issues," Schumer said in a statement.
...
Even after months of yelling, finger-wagging and threats Trump gave up rather than risk a simple loss. And of course, hes up on Twitter to tell you that it didnt happen.

I predict another rally.

(733 posts)Since chaos is the common denominator of Trump's presidency, let's look at what actually accomplishes for Trump. First, Congress (and the media)spend time trying to figure out what he wants done rather than at what he is doing: making sure Congress will be completely dependent on him to get anything done.
He has been demolishing the media and the intelligence community for a long time: easy targets.
But Congress is a special case: they can actually impeach him. So he needs different tactics to make sure that they can't do anything.
Remember that totalitarian states still have "parliaments", "congresses".
The final goal is a government so weakened that it will be in his control.
That is when he will achieve a reconciliation with Russia . . .
