(16,109 posts)I think I'd miss him even if a lunatic wasn't in charge.
He's an amazing man in so many ways and a great role model for all of us.
The lunatic just makes it hurt more!

(2,108 posts)Really miss the way he led this country with such grace, intelligence, patience and kindness ~
I miss the way he'd deliver remarks ~ who knew fully coherent, smart sentences would become so rare?
I miss that feeling of knowing no matter what, cooler heads would prevail.
Trust. I miss trust.

(989 posts)I can find no other explanation than pure racism. They spent eight years accusing Obama of "dividing" the country when in actuality they were projecting and laying the groundwork for the racism and hatred that Trump espouses. And almost 63 million people voted for it--loved it and cheered for it.
Nationalism is fascism. The right wing is working towards an authoritarian form of government and they have succeeded in dominating the local, state and now federal levels. And at every level they are chipping away at anything remotely progressive.
It is insidious and pervasive how they have taken over the narrative in the news media. We can call it corporate media all day long, but it is in actuality the propaganda machine for the Republicans.
Thankfully we are now woke. Hopefully we can be as strong and brave as those who came before us to fight for our beliefs and rights and freedoms.

(67,108 posts)government just runs along day to day, not realizing there is always the potential for a character like tRump to seize the reins of government and usher in his cohorts. We've seen this happen in other countries for eons, but I think many felt this could never happen in the US. What is startling is, Obama and tRump are polar opposites and in such a short span of time. Much of it is, as you say, republican controlled media, the mouthpiece of their endless propaganda to bring the US down, install an authoritarian government and bury democracy.

(23,315 posts)And the first family terribly. What was it like to bounce out of bed and hit the day running without a deep fear of what fresh hell the orange anus released while we all slept? Every day is like that now.

I miss that feeling of being safe. The "hands" pix really got to me.
These are good tears. Sad, but good.
He is, and will remain I am sure, the best president of my life.

(63,912 posts)It was getting me down, part of my shock and immediate sadness of losing the election to this madman. It was like losing a part of my life.
Today the shock gets less and less. You can only mourn so long before you have to dry your eyes and go on living...
