Controversial commentator Louise Mensch, one of the most vocal proponents that there had been a wide-ranging Russian plot to put Donald Trump in the White House, recently floated the idea that Vladimir Putin’s people have “kompromat” (or compromising information) on Chaffetz that they are using to blackmail him.

A foreign power has kompromat on you.
If they publish it, your career is dead.
They won't publish it, if you do something treasonous.
If that treason never comes out, you have damaged your country.
If the treason does come out, your career is dead.

The only way out is to prevent that foreign power from publishing the kompromat.
How?
Become useless as an asset.
If they don't publish the kompromat out of spite, your career is saved.
If they do publish the kompromat out of spite, you can still claim that you stepped down because you didn't want to be used against your country.

7. Another thing with so many possibilities

This is nothing but a possible reason that could explain him stepping down. This I admit is tin foil hat stuff. But then this is a tin foil hat WH and I think it is contagious.

If true there is something out there on chaffetz. There could be other people who might also be dumping info on him. One of the things I found odd about the nunes WH trip was how agitated he was. I just don't think he would have been that agitated if it was the Susan Rice accusations. I wondered at that time if bannon had been doing some digging in the classified files looking for material he and the WH could use as pressure on nunes. Chaffetz has also had his run ins with not endorsing dipshit and dipshit doesn't forget something like that. Recently chaffetz has come out with some statements sounding like he was moving toward the russian involvement and maybe people in the campaign being involved.
