French police officer killed by gunman in Paris attack

A police officer has been killed and another wounded in what police believe was probably a shooting in Paris.

Police sources say the officers were attacked on the Champs-Elysees and the person who fired on them has also been killed.

At least two attackers are reported to be involved and authorities are warning people to avoid the area.

An eyewitness told Reuters a man got out of a car and began shooting "with a Kalashnikov."

Police say the officer who was killed was in a car which had been stopped at a red light.

What are your thoughts on it?

I personally think that the commonality of this kind of stuff in Europe is indicative of a big problem. Seems so frequent now.

OK then. It's probably a Muslim and this is going to really impact the election.

I'm a realist.

I agree with your point below - this will effect the election but I never thought anyone was going to be able to make it avoid a runoff.

It cannot be reduced to to a simple fuck the NRA slogan. People would actually have to consider the reasons for the violence.

If it turns out to be the most likely scenario, a Muslim person likely with family ties outside of Metropolitan France, it will bolster the right in the election at the expense of moderates.
