This case is enormous, much bigger and more important even than Watergate.

It has to be done right. There is the principle "Innocent until proven guilty" and that goes double for the President, even if he is only the Minority President.

... WE HAVE NEVER IN OUR LIFETIMES seen a political situation such as that which faces us now. EVERYTHING about the tRump* affair is foreign and vague. We are seeing signs that our own political weaknesses are being gamed and used against us by nefarious agents --both internal and external. And, if the preliminary suppositions are supported by the data now being gathered, we are seeing one of this country's major governing political parties COLLUDING WITH SAID NEFARIOUS AGENTS for their own political gains. How we proceed is of the utmost importance, as many avenues may be wrought with peril, and could have lasting ramifications on our country and our American society.

Western jurisprudence is on the docket. 800 years after Magna Carta, do we have what it takes to defend our civilization from despots, or are we better off with autocrats?

The net must be widely cast, so as to capture the worst perps and follow all leads. Timing is critical too. Public opinion must be
turned against the criminals because impeachment is a political act to punish politically criminal behavior. You're better off with 60% of the deplorables with you, than 90% of them against you.

I think Old School true Royalty never thought much of democracy, though many countries are now Constitutional monarchies, or with single house Parliments or even bicameral legislatures with a titular head of state. They still look to entrenched political power and wisdom for direction in the long run. We don't have that long run head of state ruling family. We have institutions, that are still evolving and often on trial.

So you can't just rush and topple our government. No votes of confidence, no early elections. We have long run interests in mind, but we don't respond quickly to crises.

...but we must face this with hope and resolve.

I believe Obama is working quietly because he saw the ramifications of what Trump was doing even before the election. He's careful to stay out of the limelight but he's not walking away from it.

You're right this isn't going to happen quickly, but it will happen.
If we believe in our Constitution, we need to have hope. And resolve.

... so I can only guess what Obama's doing.

I read that Obama and Sally Yates (and probably others) made sure that documents were numbered and preserved so they wouldn't disappear when Trump came in. Obama realized that it would take more time than he had left as POTUS to get the ducks lined up. But he did see the evidence - including the Steele report - while he was still in office

I believe Sally Yates is the key and she needs to be called in to testify as soon as possible.

I would think that the problem of deranged, weaponized trumpanzees is also being factored into strategy. They have to have comprehensive plans to minimize threats to the public and to the government.

Edit to add: Not to mention, the threat of a pissed off Putin.

There were no issues like this to be dealt with during Watergate.

If they have the evidence, which everything they say points to the fact that they do indeed have this, then WTF don't they do anything with it? Treason has been committed and is enlarged every day orange assface is in his stolen office. he just about lied us into war over the weekend and he's only been in office less than 100 days. He will destroy us for his own profit if left in office and the US constitution will be just a fond memory.
