Embrace all progressives. DNC isn't perfect; let all progressives do their work.

Let Bernie do his own progressive grassroots thing with his email list. If I were him I'd be slow to turn that list over to the DNC too. This New Republic article from February explains why it was a big mistake merging OFA in 2008 with the DNC.

Basically OFA was about grassroots organizing and the DNC damaged that when the DNC brought OFA in-house.

Progressives need grassroots organizing. The DNC doesn't need to be part of that necessarily. Let Bernie do his own grassroots stuff. Everyone can be pulling in the same direction on issues and ideas.

Be positive about Bernie!!!

Obama's lost army

He built a grassroots machine of two million supporters eager to fight for change. Then he let it die [ed: by turning it over to the DNC]. This is the untold story of Obama’s biggest mistake.

4. Obama "let it die" and he paved the way for trump? That is totally false on BOTH counts!

OFA is alive and very well for anyone who cares. It's time these smears of Obama stop here on DU!

6. By the way, I just got an email from the "dead" OFA, which is organizing a protest rally....

....for May 17 when trump visits the Coast Guard Academy graduation ceremony.

As Mark Twain quipped, "The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated." Ditto OFA.

7. Yes - it's good that OFA has been reconstituted recently. It's 2017

How much grassroots work did OFA do between 08 and 2016? As much as it did in all of 07-08?

10. Read the article I linked - OFA was fairly dormant after 08

The New Republic article explains the evolution of OFA over the years.

And I can personally testify to the article's veracity. I have a friend who worked for Obama in 08. After the election, most of OFA was disbanded. I never really knew why until I read the TNR article.

Anyway, we're in a better place now. Grassroots organizing is happening, with Indivisible, Bernie, OFA and the Democratic party all joining. We need to sustain that.
