Former presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders, Democratic National Committee chair Tom Perez stop in Frankfort on unity tour

For 12 years, Gary Bentley worked as a miner in Whitesburg. When the industry collapsed he became disappointed in the stories and false hopes of the Republican Party and felt equally that the issues facing rural Kentuckians werent openly and honestly addressed by the Democratic Party.
Bentley joined five other panelists at the Kentucky Coffeetree Cafe in downtown Frankfort Tuesday for a roundtable discussion with former presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders and Democratic National Committee chair Tom Perez.
The discussion happened just hours before Perez and Sanders were to appear in Louisville as part of a tour aimed to rally both party-faithful Democrats and voters attracted to Sanders issue-driven grassroots appeal.
Issues like raising the minimum wage and health care as a basic right were back-burner issues for people in Bentleys region. Those ideas werent too radical or too progressive. They just didnt reflect exactly what people had concerns over.

(5,737 posts)1. That "the issues facing rural Kentuckians werent openly and honestly addressed"
by the Democratic Party is what cost HRC. Not only in KY but most other states. The DNC platform had something for everybody except those 45-65 y/o white voters that wanted good paying jobs. They do not want a hand out - they want to earn what they get. But the Democratic Party assumed that they had their vote.

and Sanders is wrong... it's almost seems intentional. Because he can't be that misinformed.
