Loud, dramatic fights dominate CNN political coverage. This should not be the norm.

(58,706 posts)Sure, some channels are better than others, but the drama leads to ratings. Politics has become reality TV, and the way it affects our lives in a real way hardly matters.

(24,766 posts)I think. I've finally weaned myself from cable news. Happened naturally during recent vacation.
I stay informed via the internet. Better for my health too...no "breaking news" ten times a day. Podcasts discussing current issues are also good.
I'll start watching again when the impeachment hearings start up!

(16,104 posts)I anticipate "loud, dramatic fights" which we didn't get when the Corrupt One rolled out in the primaries.
After CNN contributed to his "credibility" for all those years, they owe us the truth!

We are all being PLAYED by the constant flood of bullshit. And as we react to it and are distracted by the feces throwing, they get to do exactly what they want.

(23,765 posts)part of the problem in the US is that we view all of life through a sports mentality. What that does is (1)defines us as "winners" and "losers" and (2) the reason why so much of the US goes for it is that it makes it so they don't have to think in nuances and do any research or reflection.

(13,783 posts)... it treated Hillary's e-mails. Make no mistake, I'm delighted that the right is getting a taste of their own medicine. But it does offer an opportunity for us to critique the MSM without the possibility of being accused of special pleading.
NOTE - I'M NOT, NOT suggesting that in the end there won't be more to the Russia story than there was to the Hillary story, so don't waste time and energy attacking me for that.
What I am saying is that they talk endlessly about the issue even when there has been nothing new to report for days. A brief daily update, with full stories when actual new things occur would be healthier for the whole society.
