(13,340 posts)If Bernie wants to influence the party, he should have some skin in the game.

Joy was emphasizing the importance of organizing voters.

(9,687 posts)but this time I sense that she was handed a complete script. I too just stopped watching it. The "masters " were in control.

(297,655 posts)I did see it and was disappointed in his responses. He wasn't on his game and seemed to think our outstanding asset was our values, that they would lead us to wins. He later stressed the 50 state strategy. He was asked about BS which is not the problem for me that it is for others and he kept dancing around it rather than straight up addressing it. Even when pressed. I thought it was an anemic performance and felt my heart sink for the future of the Democratic Party.
Now I'm tired which is why I asked if others saw it as maybe I'm off on this.
Previously Tom was a straight shooter.
Tonight, because of the association with BS and his supporter lists, Tom was unable to answer questions in a straight forward manner. He sounded like a just another inside the beltway slimy politician who will go to great lengths to avoid answering the question posed. I was stunned.

(10,173 posts)Joy was right to ask the question, she's very no-nonsense about Dem strategies. I think if she was on her own show she would have peppered her questions a bit more but Tom is in a position where he wants party unity and doesn't want to ruffle feathers.
I've yet to read a solid reason why Sanders would refuse to share his list.

(16,975 posts)association, as well. But I got the impression his goal was to shape the message being presented so that Democrats and the DNC aren't completely smeared going forward. So I wasn't completely disappointed, but he was a little reticent.

(35,454 posts)Is it in the DNC's, re: ours, best interests that he be hamstrung right now? And I hope he realizes it will take more than "our values" to win. He better be thinking of getting out those clipboards.

(16,975 posts)hoping Democrats aren't maligned. It should have more structure to it. Signing people up makes sense, and it does make you wonder what's up with it all. It is annoying.

(16,975 posts)interview about the position. It was on MSNBC, forgot which afternoon show, and another guest was insisting that Democrats couldn't raise corporate money, and his response was that they should fundraise however they can. Shortly after that, he announced he wouldn't seek the position. My only conclusion was that he saw how hamstrung Democrats would be with the nonsensical new purity rules and found it untenable and just another way for Republicans to savage Democrats. Why on earth would one party completely give away all their power and get absolutely nothing in return. Nothing, just Republican Presidents.
Now we see his 50-state strategy is being usurped as well. It's mind-boggling.

(16,448 posts)Pretty sure it's the first time I've ever read anything approaching criticism of Joy Reid on DU. Looks like the bloom is off the rose. Bigly.

(16,975 posts)It's about Tom Perez on with her (substituting for Rachel).

(35,454 posts)The bloom is still on that rose, the critique was of Perez and there the bloom is fading.
