When Emma Morano died last week a Jamaican -Violet Brown became the oldest

person on the planet. It was in our local paper.

1. They'll get her too

The World's Oldest Person dies every couple of months. I suspect there is either some sort of covert group responsible, or else someone a few notches down in rank is trying to take over the title.

and may be the oldest person with a living parent!

My worry is that many of these really old people are merely alive as opposed to living.

4. My observations are that most tend to start winding down around 95 years of age...

and generally after 105, they are existing on momentum.

6. My dad's youngest sister died recently

Sadly she was out of it for at least five years. She lived in England for decades - her best friend from school days lives in Barbados - she fell the day before her 95th birthday (February) and broke her hip. That said she has all her faculties but is now using a walker. We all know that this is the beginning of her end. They were both born the same day but we discovered that my aunt was actually two years older. We thought she was a few years younger but birth certificates don't lie
