(9,580 posts)That Obama admin volunteers were there helping. On CNN they said there was like 18,000 kids as compared to 30,000+ from last year, but sure looks more like 50 or so...

(38,316 posts)My dad, and my wife's dad are too. (Even though we didn't always see that as full-of-ourselves hormonally challenged teenagers...)
With our kids we had a babysitter standard... our parents passed easily. Even though I don't know Obama personally I think he'd pass too, a guy you can trust a kid in diapers with, a guy you can trust a mouthy door-slamming sulking adolescent with.
Trump? No way in hell.

(70,112 posts)i heard many stories of him dragging the girls along to meetings. they all said he was a wonderful dad, but they had a sneaking suspicion that is was planned that the girls would show up w their hair in a mess. there were always plenty of volunteers to fix that dad hair.

(38,316 posts)... and maybe they'll forgive us someday.
I don't think a few anti-Iraq-war protests hurt them much, even when things got messy. It's radical pacifist Catholic stuff. My mom knew and nearly idolized the Berrigan Brothers.
And nothing yet so dangerous as my own mom who got us sneaking out of Franco's Spain for France in the middle of the night.
My mom's dad was a pacifist in World War II. He wouldn't take up arms so they gave him a choice: prison or working in the shipyards building and repairing Liberty and Victory ships as a welder. He chose welding. My mom remembers when he got beat up by the cops for protesting the internment of his Japanese-American neighbors.
My mom's parents were both bad-ass shipyard welders during the war. My mom's daycare providers were dockyard and Navy hookers with many nice sailor friends.
I've got my mom's and her ancestors fucking Berserker genes but I hope I've passed on some tools for dealing with them.
