If you are thinking VPN

Virtual Private Network. Very basically, an online service that masks your ISP.

Example: I'm in Australia, several sites "geo-block" their content. I try to watch say, SNL and get a message, "The uploader has not made the content available in your country."

This annoys hell out of me and I'm willing to pay a few bucks to eliminate this irritation. Over the past 18 months or so I've tried several VPN services. Some just didn't work; a couple worked at first then unwanted *updates made them unusuable.

As I write, I've just signed up and paid for yet another VPN and this one looks like the goods. No fuss set up, worked out of the box. If you're still looking, try this VPN:

https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/

It's not the cheapest around. I guess you get what you pay for.

PS I got to see tonights SNL

I found the recommendation for the VPN above one some ranking list. Can't remember - cNet? Somewhere reliable. What I've found is they all spruik themselves as the best, fastest etc but the only way you find out is by paying and signing up.

The ones I tried ($AUD) were all around $30 p.a. this new one, double that. Seems OK so far. We'll See.

Liked everything about it - except - my main computer is dual boot and I like spending most of my time in XP. IPVanish sys.reqs are Win7 and above.

I avoid doing banking (paying bills, etc) because I don't trust the motel or restaurant wifi.

Currently looking at PureVPN, it seems to be a decent price.

Worked fine for couple of months, then there was an involuntary 'update' that reduced features and would not connect reliably. Besides that, they spam you for feedback.

It's extremely easy to use, and it works with all my devices, including my desktop Mac, my Windows laptop, and my iPhone. I ponied up for the lifetime subscription after using it for a couple of weeks.

pretty reasonably priced (works out to a bit more than $3USD/month for the annual payment), wide range of servers, they don't keep connection logs (supposedly).
