Regime change is something that we think is going to happen because all of the parties are going to see that Assad is not the leader that needs to be taking place for Syria Theres not any sort of option where a political solution is going to happen with Assad at the head of the regime.
U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, in an interview on CNN.
When you undertake a violent regime change in Libya, and the situation in Libya continues to be very chaotic and I would argue that the life of the Libyan people has is not all that well off today, so I think we have to learn the lessons of the past and learn the lessons of what went wrong in Libya when you choose that pathway of regime change.
Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, in an interview on ABC News.

(1,129 posts)T-Rex's focus is on Libya as an example of the argument against regime change
via a violent pathway....
NOT Necessarily indicative of a blanket argument against any/all pathways to regime change in Syria...
Miss UN Ambassador -USA
References regime change
But really only indicates that there will be a point
at which a group of as yet unnamed "parties" are going to agree on the need for new
"... leadership taking place" in Syria
So that a political solution --
to an ambiguous / abstract / as yet undefined
mystery problem--
Can take place ...
Sounds to me like both
T-Rex and Miss UN Ambassador USA
could both be pointing to a situation whereby
syrian leadership undergoes a change
due to naturally occurring circumstances.
So, who might Assad willingly relinquish control of Syria to?
Or
What natural, albeit completely unforseen & randomly tragic, cause of death might Assad experience?
And who might happen to be available to replace him?
