Just a heads up, my fellow DU'ers. If you look at Yahoo news stories, don't

waste your precious time on earth looking at the comments. The vast majority of the time, you don't get to the 5th comment until they get into racial slurs.

A cesspool of ignorance and racism, it is.

The ones I run across are the worst of the worst, even in my local paper, and someone supposedly reviews those. I try to keep myself from reading them since I know they'll send me over the edge...

but Yahoo is horrible. Otherwise, there is a lot of variability form site to site, depends on the story too.

When they insult "liberals" and "progressives", a tactic I've been using lately.. that REALLY pisses them off, is to point out the ways in which their electing #45 is actually embracing the liberal and progressive causes of decades past.

There is no mistaking that #45 is definitely NOT progressive or liberal in any sense of the words, but his election does bring full circle to the conservative, and anti liberals/anti progressives full circle to some of our causes:

They fully embraced a foreign born third lady.

They have sold off their bible clutching to elect a man who is FAMOUS for his adultery.

On the topic of adultery, and the third lady... 2 divorces. Not that may not sound very liberal or progressive today, but just 50 years ago the entire concept of a divorcee being elected to the oval office would have been laughable. Divorced people were income and promotion limited. It would have been a much bigger step if they'd elected a divorced woman, but even a divorced man is a large step forward. A shame it's such a monster, but it is a step still.

To elect him, they've sold off their whole "sanctity of marriage" narrative. Anyone who accepts #45 as their leader, cannot possibly have a bona fide religious belief in the sanctity of marriage as a Christian belief. The gospels of their book of tales, that central part of the fiction that is supposed to be the words and teachings of Jesus, and is the central part of Christian teachings specifically state that a divorced man who remarries is committing adultery in at least 4 of the books. The gospels mention nothing on homosexuality. For that they have to go old testament.

When you are uneducated and are still using AOL and Southwestern Bell for your email address, read "fake news", wear a red hat, don't understand how computers work and still use pen and paper. I believe every person who uses Yahoo is still stuck with the same IQ they had in elementary school. It was the first big computer program/company and why get rid of it when you want coal mines to come back.

I like the way AOL's spam control works. I declare who I want to go to my inbox. I check my spam folder daily and if I want to receive further emails from an address, I check as "not spam". Everyone in my address book also goes into my inbox.

But never anything else outside their mail service. Every time I log out of my account, I'm treated to a litany of right-wing headlines and talking points on Yahoo's "news" page.

They're a great reminder of what some people really think behind a blanket of anonymity.
