The history of midterm turnout, the recent special elections, the protests, the donations and the early vote all seem consistent with the same story: The Democrats might be fixing their midterm turnout problem.

1. It all depends on where our own version of the tea party goes

Retaking The Senate is going to take a near-miracle... And the "100% pure voting record our we primary you" crowd could make things very difficult in several races that we desperately need.

2. I hope so, because we need a ton of turnout for the Senate: 25 Dem seats and 9 Repub seats

are up for election in 2018, meaning just to stay where we're at, we need to win 25/34 = 74% of the races.

To go from 48 to 51 seats, and thus control of the Senate, we need to win 28/34 = 82% of the races.

(The 25 Democratic seats up for election in 2018 include the 2 independents that caucus with the Democrats).

Just read he and Gary Cohn are for full reinstatement of Glass-Steagall.

I think Bannon and Co is toast.

4. All through the year I receive these slick 8x10 postcards from the GOP

touting what they are "doing for our state" and how it is important that we reelect them every 2 years (from Jim Banks and Susan Brooks). I haven't received one from the democratic party since 2008. Is it just the presidential election every four years that is important to the party? I hope Perez will adopt the Dean 50state strategy. It's easy to win House seats - just get everyone to vote!
