After seeing yet another "Baghdad Sean" presser today, it is now impossible for Melissa McCarthy to ever parody him again.
There is nothing she could say or do - no matter how over-the-top, how insane, how utterly ridiculous - that could possibly top Sean's own real-life performance.
Luckily, Melissa still has a great career in front of her. Sean Spicer? Hmm, not so much.

It's quite sad, really. Over the past two months, I have heard so many journalists say the same thing: "I know Sean, and he's a great guy. It's too bad his career has now been ruined."

(3,266 posts)choice to stay in that shitshow job. He ruined his own career, and anyone who can lie, lie, lie, deflect and obfuscate like that - willingly - is NOT a great guy.

(15,805 posts)that the people in the press room are professionals. They give him respect that is increasingly difficult to tender, and they constrain themselves at his most cringe worthy moments; the strain of constantly biting their tongues must be at painful levels. What a sad damned circus.

(27,815 posts)As I just posted up-thread, Spicer seems to be well-liked and respected by the journalists who have known him for years.
That is probably the only thing that keeps them from literally laughing in his face and/or going ballistic when he trots out his daily dose of ludicrous "alternative facts".
I feel sorry for the guy. No doubt he saw this job as a great career opportunity - little realizing just how completely insane Trump is, and how ridiculous the lies would be that he'd be expected to peddle with a straight face.
As Carl Bernstein said of him recently: "Even Sean Spicer doesn't believe a word that comes out of his own mouth."
I can only imagine the dread with which he faces going to work every day. The career-making dream job turned out to be a shit sandwich, literally from day one - and will probably be a career ender when all is said and done.

Sorry!
Anyone with ANY sense of respect, decency, or civil obligation would NOT stand up there and do what he does.
I don't see how he can even face a mirror to shave - it would be too tempting to use a sharp device to end this travesty.

(6,916 posts)Spicer is consciously choosing to lie about leaks, inauguration, Obama.
Nurenberg told us - following orders is not an excuse for participating in destroying your country.
If Spicer had an ounce of rectitude, he'd quit.
The collaborators are as bad as Trump.

People make choices. He is making the choice every day to continue in this role. I have zero respect for him.

She was actually a very nice woman.
I think Spicer is much worse than Ziegler.

This has happened with Sarah Palin and Tina Fey's impression. And I couldn't believe that Cecily Strong's impression of Scottie Nell Hughes was a real person, until I saw the real Scottie and it blew my mind.

(37,457 posts)My impression is at least the RNC public relations person tells the truth "most" of the time with a heavy slant on Republican good, Democrats bad. Spicer is just as bad as Goebbels at this point. Lies upon lies, non-stop.
Why would any company or organization want to hire him after this gig ? "Oh yeah, he's the lying sack of shit who used to work for Trump. Pass"
