Trump Teeters on the Brink

MAR 31 2017, 8:42 AM ET
by CHUCK TODD, MARK MURRAY and CARRIE DANN

... President Trump's approval rating is stuck in the 30s and 40s. His health-care effort failed. The travel ban is tied up in courts. Congress and the FBI are investigating his campaign's possible links to Russia. He's calling out fellow Republicans for failing to help him on health care. His White House tried to cover up (for a while at least) his aides providing information to House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes. And now his ousted national security adviser says he'll cooperate with the FBI and Congress in exchange for immunity.

Any one of these stories would ensnare a presidency in a crisis. But you add up these seven storylines above — we're sure we're leaving others out — and it's unsustainable. Conservative commentators are already hitting the panic button ...

In the waning days of the 2016 presidential election, one of the central arguments that Trump made against Hillary Clinton was that scandal and controversy would always follow her ... But now beginning the 11th week of his presidency, scandal and controversy — both small and potentially big — have enveloped the Trump White House ...

" "Hillary Clinton is the most corrupt person ever to seek the office of the presidency of the United States," he said while campaigning in Michigan on Nov. 6. "The investigations into her crimes will go on for a long, long time. The rank and file special agents at the FBI won't let her get away with her terrible crimes." But now beginning the 11th week of his presidency, scandal and controversy — both small and potentially big — have enveloped the Trump White House."

how all those critical investigations into Hillary have suddenly stopped these past 5 or so months... if they were legitimate, they would certainly have continued.

Drumpf has been enveloped in "scandal and controversy" over the past 45 years. This isn't something "new". Many of us knew what would happen if he got into office. And what makes it worse is having greedy and sadistic lying psychopaths feeding him disinformation, flaunting every ethical and legal rule and precedent in existence, and tearing apart the very fabric of this society.

And I AM to a degree. But finally, the little guy was truly ready for change - read that, a POPULIST agenda. The sickening thing is, we HAD such a candidate who likely would've won by the highest margin ever. But because of a letter in parentheses, he was snookered before things even started. No tellin' how many congressional hopefuls would've slid in on his coat tails.

Just imagine we're in an alternate future.... We're rejoicing that one medical emergency will no longer drive us from our homes! We're all feeling good because even the least of us can get by on their weekly wages and STILL have time for their families! Imagine an emphasis on the best education our oncoming generations can absorb instead of the education system getting fat off of outrageously levied fees. Imagine a real, job-ballooning surge of infrastructure work that would not include private toll booths at every bridge and corner! Imagine a time where our military gets what it needs without the leverage they bought by bankrolling a candidate's run for office - or the financial sector calling in favors to get regulations off their back so they can feel free to SCREW their clients without any repercussions for having swindled those who thought they were dealing with an institution of robbery - or how about oil companies told "We're sorry! We just can't seem to figure out what the subsidies we hand you are doing for anyone other than your top echelon and your stockholders" ALL institutions that have contributed to players of the party we are deluded enough to call OUR party.
But.... no harm, no foul. DWS is back doing her best to pull whatever strings she can to support the PayDay lending (loan shark) industry - preying on the desperately vulnerable and sending some of the skim to THEIR reps coffers. I mean.... why rock the boat?

We HAD the most genuine, honest and truly caring candidate since Bobby Kennedy waiting to take the Democratic Party back to its rightful place at the front line of a battle-charge to bring true justice and equality to the people of America; a populist who spoke for ALL of the forgotten lower and middle class, the marginalized, the disenfranchised and the beaten-down....we had him there, for a brief, shining moment, as it were.

The Democratic Party needs to do some soul-searching.

Now.

...and I can't possibly imagine a more perfect opportunity to appear to come 'riding to the rescue' of the American people with a populist leader heading the charge for truly transparent and just governmental reform than the pathetic, collapsing 'house-of-cards-shit-show' that is the current Republican controlled government could ever provide.

It is truly OUR perfect, 'eye-of-the-storm' opportunity to lose.
...and, no, we DON'T want to lose what may be a LAST opportunity, at that!

We won't fix shit until we liberals get a say in the media. It's disgusting that conservatives have a monopoly on the media, and they demonize anyone who doesn't follow their dangerous agenda lockstep as being part of the "liberal media". Their "your with us or against us" attitude is only going to hurt them in the long run.

YES

When NBC puts Frank Luntz on (along with a Federalist editor and some other GOP tax-giveaway-to-the-wealthy morons)
you know American media has lost its way.

The media in America today is for-profit (and thus inclined to favor the wealthy) or conservative-bankrolled. It's embarassing. Reason, Breitbart, and the NY Post are purely money-losers that the GOP donor class bankrolls to tell lies to America.

He's the president of CBS. Remember during the campaign when he said that Trump wasn't good for America, but he was good for ratings? Yeah fuck that shit.
