Bike Lanes Are for Immigrants? A Queens Officials View Draws Fire

At a previous meeting, Ms. Pfoser Darby denounced proposed bike lanes as a taxpayer-financed amenity for the undocumented immigrants she claims are their main users.

Ms. Pfoser Darby’s has a long history of incendiary remarks but her bike comments have ignited a local media firestorm and helped inflame an already contentious plan to create the bike lanes as part of a safety redesign of a dangerous stretch of street near Flushing Meadows-Corona Park.

She remained adamant about her position on the bike-lane proposal: “I said the truth — the bike lanes are made specifically for the people who come into the country illegally.”

She said she surmised cyclists using area bike lanes were undocumented immigrants by their lack of English and nervous mannerisms.

That said, all the food delivery bikes are generally used by immigrants.
