Ryan Adams donating Buck Owens guitar and hand-written lyrics to ACLU fundraiser

https://americansongwriter.com/2017/03/ryan-adams-donates-guitar-handwritten-lyrics-aclu-fundraiser/

"On Instagram yesterday, Ryan Adams shared that he has donated a guitar and set of handwritten lyrics to a fundraiser benefitting the American Civil Liberties Union. His Harmony F-70 Buck Owens American Acoustic Guitar and original lyrics for the 2014 Ryan Adams track “Gimme Something Good” will both be up for grabs during March 31’s “Stand for Rights: A Benefit for the ACLU” Facebook Live event.

“Saying goodbye to one of my Buck Owens guitars today,” Adams writes in the post. “It’s my way of doing my part to help people who are in danger of harm in these days of madness.”

Other celebrities taking part in the event, which takes place at 7 p.m. Eastern, include Tina Fey, Jon Hamm and Alec Baldwin. Specific details about the logistics of Friday’s auction have not yet been announced."

He's had his fair share of struggles but he remains one of the most authentic, yet under appreciated, artists of the modern era. I've loved him since the Whiskeytown days.

Good for him!

I have most of his stuff, including a lot of bootlegs. I have an entire playlist of his music I play every now and then. I could go on and on, but here's two rare ones I love from "Crossroads" with Elton John

And

Met him back in 2006 or so in Knoxville. I was walking into my apartment building in downtown Knoxville. It was a loft apartment built out of an old factory building. Anyway, as I'm walking in, this asshole on a skateboard nearly mows me down. We end up arm in arm cause we're both falling and I'm like "Holy shit, you're Ryan Adams". He gives me this sheepish grin and says "Sorry man, I wasn't paying attention". We talked for a bit about how he was enjoying Knoxville and he says "Are you coming to the concert tonight?" I replied "Yeah, was actually headed home to shower and change clothes when you damn near wrecked me on that skateboard". He laughed his ass off at that and said "Hope you enjoy the show". We shook hands and he bro-hugged me and that was that.
