General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI've spent the last 24 hrs reading everything I can get my hands on, and sadly
haven't found anything of great substance to indicate that anyone is going to move on the
Nunes debacle.
Saying he should recuse himself is meaningless if Nunes and the GOP continue to stonewall and ignor.
So Comey is not going to testify- now what?
Who is doing what when? i can't stand this!!!

(34,845 posts)...so, too, there will be just enough Republicans to help turn the tide on this, imo.
And once indictments start to appear, the game will go into high speed.

(4,428 posts)This is going to go on for a long time too. The GOP controls congress, which means they control the pace and the form of the investigation.
They are not interested in it, which means that only political pressure will make it happen; political pressure meaning they fear for their jobs. This is a long term thing; the GOP needs to be absolutely convinced that NOT doing a real investigation will hurt them more than doing it.
That's going to take a lot of voters and maybe even some lost seats in 2018. The Democrats absolutely must make this a 2018 election issue---and win by doing so.

(17,276 posts)It's impossible to know what's really going on with incomplete information. Like trying to do a puzzle without all the pieces. I always say, "Let me know when the indictments come down!". The media will spin it both right and left and we can't get the whole story.
Just this morning I watched Lawrence O'Donnell interview from yesterday. He gave some facts and ended with speculation. So nobody really knows everything.

(36,540 posts)It took two years to take Nixon down & this is already going faster than that. Also, Trump has pissed off the media, the intelligence community & the military. He may have some supporters in these groups, but not many. And remember, the majority of voting Americans did not vote for this. And we have social media - a great tool to keep informed & fired up & connected.
I call John McCain at least twice a week & plead with him to put country before party & be a hero - be the first repub to step up & do the right thing & take this madman down.

(17,276 posts)So Donnie is so much the worse. Nixon was finally down to about 25% approval ratings after all that time--and look at how low Donnie is already-- 36%.
Yep--things go faster in this internet age, for sure. And the other thing is that thanks to Nixon, people learned to mis-trust the Presidency and are a lot more cynical now. This is unfortunate for the good ones like Obama who never gave anyone cause, but fortunate in the case of his successor!
