Rick Scott’s Initial Voter Purge List Shown To Be 98.4% Inaccurate

Daily Kos reports the Miami Herald uncovered the fact that Democratic, Independent and Hispanic voters are most likely to fall prey to Florida Governor Rick Scott’s plan to purge voter rolls.

The Herald reported that according to the state’s Division of Elections, 180,000 potential non-citizens were identified by searching a database with outdated, inaccurate information. About 58% of those are Hispanics, who make up 13% of registered active voters in the state. About two-thirds of the suspected non-citizens are located in Miami-Dade, the state’s largest county and comprising the largest population of immigrants. Blacks comprise 14 percent of the list and only account for about 13 percent of the overall voter rolls in the state. Democrats are the largest group on the potential non-citizen list, comprising roughly 40 percent. They also represent about 40% of voter rolls. In stark contrast to those numbers, Republicans, who total 36 percent of voter rolls, account for only 21 percent of the potential non-citizens. Only 13 percent of the non-citizen list is white, even though whites account for more than 68 percent of Florida’s active voter rolls.

ElectionSmith, Inc., an organization that specializes in data collection and analysis, found that out of 2,625 names targeted by the Florida Secretary of State as non-citizens in thirteen counties, only 41 were removed from the rolls. That boils down to a 98.4% error rate on the part of the SOS.

There is no doubt the remaining 180,000 will have a far lower accuracy than the 1.6% of the 2600 list.

he couldn't prove that drug use is higher among welfare recipients after passing his bill and having only 2% turn up positive.

"Poll: Scott Approval Rating Falls To 31%" (WFOR, 6/9/2012): In fact, it's even reported: "The PPP poll found that Scott receives just 53 percent approval from Republicans and that 17 percent would take their chances with (Democratic challenger Nan) Rich rather than voting for Scott." LOL, 17 percent who would DARE vote for...a DemocRAT? LEW-SERS!

Hmm, it seems that even some REPUBLICANS in the state recognize that Scott is doing the drug tests for welfare and voter purge things for political purposes, not because the people are really demanding those things.

And his approval had been in the 30s/40s range thru the second half of 2011.

You can't arrest them, they're the ones that do the arresting.

These assholes could just pass a law that non-whites can't vote and Democrats would say, "That's not right." Republicans would follow with "Shut up!" and Democrats would say, "Okay,....still friends?"

pRick Scott is moving forward with his Koch Bros agenda.. and no one can stop him.

He has thumbed his nose at the Feds.. and sadly, the Florida legislature is so corrupt and so far to the right... that it makes Tea-Bag-nuttery look civilized.

Drug testing for food stamps, drug testing for unemployment, voter purges, giving rail money away, Charter schools.

We even have our own version of Sheriff Joe Arpaio.. Sheriff Grady Judd of Lakeland, Fla. (He sees Jesus in toasted cheese sandwiches, wants to bring back public hanging and sees "Muslim" terrorists on every corner. Sheeesh.
