Hold on. I think there's actually a way to pitch Trump on Medicare For All

Some Democratic Representative go to the White House with this offer:

"I can deliver every single vote in the Democratic caucus behind HR 676; you need to get Ryan to allow the vote and deliver 23 Republicans.

If you can do this, you'll keep your campaign promise to get everybody coverage. You'll be responsible for the largest deficit reduction in US history. And you'll have succeeded where Obama failed, and actually delivered full health care reform."

Damn. That might actually work.

I think we might get it. Trump wants it done and if he has to work with democratic congress, he will. Remember he only cares for himself. Also he can use the excuse repugs failed to get a bill on my desk to work with the Democratic Party. Who knows.

Stop playing games with people's lives.

I don't know whether this scheme would work, but it is NEVER appropriate to oppose good solutions because doing so would give someone eles the credit.

They could even call an in- front-of-the-White House press conference.

John Conyers is already sponsoring a Medicare for All bill, H.R. 676. See here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/10028849066

and you need more than 2 Republicans to get to 51. R = 52 and D+I = 48. So you need 3 Rs (because if it were just 2, then Pence would break the tie to defeat it). And this is assuming the 4 "moderate" Ds (Tester, Manchin, McCaskill, Heitkamp) would actually vote with the rest of the Ds. If they didn't, now you're talking about flipping 7 Rs.

and it will not happen.

There are many in the current Congress in both chambers (and now in the WH), who were elected strictly due to the falsities promoted about and opposition to the ACA (along with their hatred for Obama), starting with the 2010 election. That was also a census year and GOP-dominated states made sure to re-district to reinforce the election of even more teabagger types.

The teabagger, Koch-supported scum are Libertarian-promoting anti-healthcare period. End of story. The other GOPers are so fearful of being primaried due to mounds of Koch $$$ (from their Americans for Prosperity PAC) that they will force Eddie Munster's hand (and note that Eddie is from Wisconsin, which is Kochland) to reject anything coming from the Democrats where the government is involved in healthcare (or health insurance, which will eventually include SS & Medicare, both of which they want eliminated).

Only way to handle this is incrementally - including pushing to restore McCain-Feingold, until we re-take Congress in a big way and re-take our states.

First, if Medicare for All could pass, I don't care who does it.

Given that, a republican implementation could have 'land mines' in the implementation.

But, Dems had a chance and 'decided' not to implement Medicare for All.

So, if the Dems can't do it, but the republicans can - well, so be it.
