(34,845 posts)I don't think we appreciate how utterly masterful Obama was in crafting the ACA. It is so comprehensive that it necessarily is hideously complex yet other than universal care, it really is the best step forward with funding mechanisms and coverage options.
Masterful.

(19,566 posts)That'll have a drastic effect on the ACA as it's currently structured.

(34,845 posts)What happens when it's reported that not enforcing the mandate is the cause of stress on the ACA? I don't see how the GOP can deny its culpability.

(19,566 posts)It was an EO. But, they're going to go the route of people wanted the mandate gone, so Trump removed it. If Democrats would have worked with us to pass our AHCA (which we all know was horrible, but the voters never felt an impact from), then this wouldn't be taking place now.
Wait for it.

(1,330 posts)I culd be wrong, but I'm fairly confident that the president can't unilaterally cancel the mandate. It doesn't make sense that Democrats, in writing the bill, would have left something that important vulnerable to executive whim. The IRS says the executive order is being reviewed, but taxpayers who owe a penalty are still directed to submit it with their return.

(9,350 posts)The Democrats had nothing to do with this. It is not the fault of the Democrats that Paul Ryan could not get his party in line. What, did Trump want Nancy Pelosi to go and round up the votes for Ryan?

(2,434 posts)did not prepare the Repukniks for how hard it is to govern. Right now Ryan is whining that they were used to being the opposition party and it is hard work to be the governing party. Holy shit! What babies.
