Why is the Gorsuch nomination even going for a vote?

Can someone please explain why, with an FBI investigation going on into collusion with Russia, that the Democratic Party leadership is going through the motions here?

Chuck Schumer: Democrats Will Filibuster Neil Gorsuch’s Nomination
The top Democrat said his party will insist that the president’s Supreme Court pick be confirmed with at least 60 votes.

ON EDIT... Thanks for educating me in this thread. I now realize that we are powerless to stop Gorsuch from coming to a vote since we are the minority party.
Onward to Filibuster!!

Are you saying that you think that the Democrats shouldn't filibuster?

If the Republicans can hold up the Merrick Garland nomination why couldn't the Dems do the same?
Is it because of who holds the majority?

Being in the minority, Democrats have no power to stop it from going to a vote.

That image is exactly the opposite of what is happening: Dems are united in opposing Gorsuch, not infighting.

It was going to a vote no matter because they control the Senate.
That is why Garland could be blocked and Gorsuch can't be blocked?
