Chuck Schumer: Democrats will filibuster Gorsuch nomination

As the Senate Judiciary Committee was hearing from witnesses for and against Judge Neil Gorsuch, his Supreme Court nomination was delivered a critical blow: Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) announced he would oppose Gorsuch and join other Democrats in filibustering the nomination, making it likely that the judge will struggle to find the support needed to clear a 60-vote procedural hurdle.

Gorsuch “was unable to sufficiently convince me that he’d be an independent check” on Trump, Schumer said in a Senate floor speech.

Gorsuch is “not a neutral legal mind but someone with a deep-seated conservative ideology,” Schumer added. “He was groomed by the Federalist Society and has shown not one inch of difference between his views and theirs.”

Schumer said this week that it would be “unseemly” for the Senate to confirm Gorsuch while the FBI is investigating whether Trump’s presidential campaign was swayed by Russian interference...

I know some will disagree, but I think Gorsuch is poison for the SC. On top of that I think the Russian scandal and healthcare will give Dems plenty of cover in 2018.

Why should such an important decision be voted on when the cic is under federal investigation?

Insane, because he could still get voted in.

No to confirm. Filibuster, sounds good.

The GOP is wanting to pack the court with Justices that think corporations are people. To much has happened to the voters since Roberts/Citizens United.

Eight on the Court will work fine. Gorsuch (sp) will let you freeze to death.

Thanks to and article written by Senator Franken concerning corporations, the GOP need to pack the court for a 20 year conservative view in a liberal voting population.

I have expressed a NO to my senator.

I am a loyal citizen, in opposition to pRezident dRumpf and any GOP lemming. The dRumpf campaign has turned into a cabal.

Follow the cash. Subpoena the taxes.

be to the right of Scalia while being more partisan than Thomas. I believe just being from the Federalist Society way of thinking disqualifies him. The Federalist Society aims to produce political judges.
