Some thoughts. What say you, DU?

A few things occurred to me last night after watching a crapload of coverage (Rachel, Lawrence, Tweety, Hayes and then some stuff over on CNN)

1. The Russians aren't stupid. They ABSOLUTELY knew Kislyak was being surveilled. If they didn't know for sure, they definitely suspected. It is, after all, exactly what they themselves would do. I'm wondering if the biggest thing we are all missing in this is that they did this all purposefully, including having things about what they did come out. Kislyak went places (the convention, for example) and talked to people (Flynn, Sessions, Kushner and Trump himself) all while under surveillance.

2. I feel like Pence and Nunes decided to eviscerate the likelihood of the committee continuing to investigate because they KNOW Trump is guilty as hell and the shit is about to hit the fan. They either don't want the blowback of this (From Drumpfs insanely stupid supporters) OR they are trying to maneuver out of being further pressured by the Russians themselves. (At this point I suspect A LOT of people are beholden to the Russians).

Ryan and Nunes chose to toss a grenade at the situation and did something incredibly stupid to damn near guarantee an independent investigation would have to be put into place, thereby absolving themselves and their colleagues from having to deal with this.

That's my hope at least- because in my opinion the alternative would be that Paul Ryan told Nunes to go to the White House yesterday because he was ordered to. By Russia.

Every single thing that is happening is further tearing apart our system. The country is divided like never before. Russia- using Trump as a distraction- is making a bid to destroy us.

What if THEY are the leakers? Is it really so hard to imagine that they've had access to the classified documents?

More and more I suspect they are playing both sides. They have set a trail they knew reporters, democrats and IC people would follow while drip-drip-dripping info to the Trump team. But along the way they've managed to do a stellar job of fucking Trump over, hard. Manafort. Flynn. Sessions. Page. Stone. Having Tillerson appointed SOS. It all leads directly back to Russia-- just like they want it to. Every once in a while they'll give a token denial about their involvement, but it's all there.

Comey and Rogers said it best the other day when they noted that the Russians were so loud "it's like they wanted us to know."

What's your gut telling you about all of this?

I think Nunes intentionally subverted the integrity of the committee. femmocrat Mar 2017 #1
I agree- how and where could they find objective people? LibraLiz1973 Mar 2017 #2
An independent commission buried info on JFK's assassination, and another tblue37 Mar 2017 #3
I'm sure that is what they are counting on. nt femmocrat Mar 2017 #4

He was way too accommodating of the democrats on Monday. Someone wants that committee torpedoed. Although.... I don't see how an independent investigation would help them, unless they can stack the roster. Would DOJ appoint such a panel --- and how would the members be chosen? I think it would be hard to find anyone who is objective at this point.

Under what rock?

My thought is that they were so desperate to get it away from this that they kicked the can down the road figuring it could be someone else's problem.

IMHO they're chickenshit douchebags who should both be removed from office. Yesterdays snafu was just another example in a long line that shows one thing quite clearly. They don't work for their constituents or this country.
