He was trying to discredit the FBI with the idea that they were wire tapping Trump in an indirect way and thought the media, people would fall for it. That way to distract from the Russian Probe and perhaps hamper the congressional investigation.

Only the media didn't fall for it and yes it has hampered the congressional investigation...just not in the way he wanted.

So now he's trying to do damage control. He fucked up...YYUUUUGGGGEEE!!!!!.
