Can someone link to a thread that explains this without too much extraneous hoopla?

(1,046 posts)deflect the story from "Trump admin colluding with Russia" to "Trump admin. being surveilled illegally". He's trying to pivot the story, and he's doing it unilaterally, without approval.

(7,908 posts)Obama really was wiretapping him.
Problem for that lying little fuck Nunes is the timeline: Trump alleged that Obama wiretapped him during the "sacred election season' (October). But TrumpCo associates were picked up incidentally or as named subjects of FISA warrants during November, December and January.
Bottom line:
Obama did NOT wiretap Trump.
TrumpCo Associates may have been the subjects of FISA warrants, in which case those warrants were issued via DUE PROCESS OF LAW.
Nunes in revealing this (despite his lying spin on it) has now divulged classified information without proper authority to do so and is thus criminally liable for it.
How's that?

(7,908 posts)Trump's transition team.
For him to be receiving classified briefings about the FBI investigation when he himself may be a subject of the same investigation simply boggles the mind and screams out for a Special Prosecutor.
I hope Comey and the FBI have the goods on Nunes and that he goes down

(9,033 posts)Iirc an independent prosecutor has to be appointed by Atty General or Congress. Given that all of the above (those in charge) are shameless cretins, how likely is that?
randome
(34,845 posts)Sure, they are all complicit but public pressure will now be immense. They won't have any choice but to appoint someone and hope he/she doesn't follow the right trails.

(9,033 posts)Congress with R majorities is no better--yesterday at the hearing their laser focus was on leaks, not on cooperation or collusion. No one they agree to appoint will be independent or diligent.

(81,863 posts)He received "reports" from a mysterious someone that "came forward." The reports are that there was a FISA warrant against someone. There was incidental collection of people connected to Trump. The names of people were "unmasked" in the report by someone. Nunes went to see Trump. Nunes did not inform Schiff.
Summary: Someone leaked info to Nunes and he went to Trump and the media.

(1,018 posts)And they were caught up in surveillance - maybe as part of the "unmasked names." He has nothing to lose because he's involved? He's in a very safe Republican district...won his seat by over 70%. Warning Trump et al that they are being surveilled. Confusing the issue of "Obama wiretapping" and giving political cover.
So many possibilities.

(1,018 posts)As Brian Williams said, there were plenty of side doors to get into the West Wing. He also lingered for questions. I like how he didn't mention this didn't have anything to do with "Obama wiretapping" tweets until he was asked.a

(5,995 posts)He's hoping to imply that Trump wasn't wrong about Obama's "tapps", but that it was all innocent conversations as a part of preparing for the election and transition.
My feeling is that these incidental contacts pointed the IC toward a Trump-Russia nexus and they've been digging hard to gather all the evidence they could before leaks force them to raid the WH and issue indictments.
Also, might be a much broader net being cast as they followed where the info led.

(12,660 posts)They're all such petty mobsters, thinking they're Michael Corleone when in reality, they're a bunch of Fredos.
A bunch of wealthy narcissist Randriods and fellow travelers with way too much money and cleverness, and much too little wisdom. Starting with Adelson, Devos, and Mercer, and going all the way down to the puppets.
Putin isn't really that smart either. He's a clever gangster, but his world still has to be severely constricted for him to be able to operate and have influence. He doesn't operate very well on the World stage, he can't work with anyone; he has to try and ensure everyone else is weak before he can act.

How long before Fox starts to speculate that Bill and Hillary Clinton deliberately persuaded Trump to run knowing that he would destroy the Republican Party?
