Folks, the chair of the intel committee, without informing his colleagues, is standing in front of the White House shaming the FBI (!!!!!) saying the FBI is "not cooperating" and that the intel he claims he was privy to was "political." He is clearly trying to cover Trump's ass. What a shame. They are DESPERATELY TRYING TO DISCREDIT COMEY AND DESTROY THE FBI INVESTIGATION. Nunes is claiming these "reports" support Trump's claims.
Just ran away after saying a VERY SNIPPY and SNARKY COMMENT about Comey: "he needs to come talk to US."

(2,172 posts)Possibly, his name is one that has been unredacted and now is unveiled and recognizable as it
appears in intelligence reports. Nunes needs to be removed as chairman of the committee. The committee cannot be considered fair and unbiased when he receives this information -- probably from Trump -- and then hauls butt to the WH, which he is supposed to be investigating.

(86,650 posts)which is why he's not getting the intel he's looking to bury before it gets out of the capsule. I think that the way Comey was looking at him was like; I see you, f'er, and I'll have your ass in legirons in a heartbeat.
And I suspect that what he just spent the last 90 minutes doing will be his undoing and may well have been set up to blow it by Comey et al.

Is there a target of the investigation in this room? Blink twice for yes.

(86,650 posts)That would have given too many a heads up that they were next. I'd rather watch them scramble around a little and squirm with cold sweat for a couple days. They are bound to totally blow it in public... the level of sophistication is so low.

(86,650 posts)but all the Rs on the intel committees in both houses of Congress are com;icit as is the Speaker, the Majority leader and several others in the Senate. It is colossal in scope and breadth... this will be the corruption primer for centuries.
...believe me.
There's lots of squirming going on right now, and several upset stomachs. You can tell by all the rats leaping from the sinking ship, they can see the torpedo trails in the water and they are headed for the rogue ship GOP.

(86,650 posts)SWALLOWED IT! Which would be amusing to get the skinny on but it could also be a WH set up to let him get the notice, cast aspersions in Nunes' direction as a "squirrel" while everyone is rightfully focused on Manafort now, and that's gonna make some heads explode.
Or it could be that he just blew it because there are so few functioning brain cells among the whole crew.

(3,283 posts)I didn't know exactly what their plan was but I did suspect they had one to try to make this all go away. It may be a mistake doing it this way as it makes it more necessary for a special prosecutor but we shall see. Plus it's not real smart to piss off the intelligence community.

(562 posts)Problem is nothing FBI did was illegal or politically motivated, and Comey is a Republican. He even went against FBI protocal to help get Drumpf elected.
This reeks of Trump's typical "attack the messenger" MO and is a desperate move. Fire Comey and we have a watergate type firing of special prosecutor Archibald Cox used as a basis for impeachment.
Nunes is protecting himself by saying surveillance was legal. Otherwise, it would be perjury.

(25,704 posts)CIA overseas. NSA is an easedropping outfit that supplies both. FISA warrant needed for FBI counterespionage with US citizens. No warrants needed for inadvertently getting US citizens while monitoring foreigners (business and state-level espionage.). Supposed to strip out US identity while non-warranted intercepts.
Nunes says no stripping and sharing. If so this is felonious. But coming from Nunes the salt must be taken.

As I vaguely recall, I think we've kind of deviated from the original proper meaning so your applause may well be more than I deserve. But Trump's such an ignoramus, he couldn't tell even if Nunes dropped by to try and explain it! So I figure that kind of evens it out

(4 posts)When Obama ordered a complete investigation into the Russia hacks back in December, I would assume they'd likely end up investigating Trump team, since they were involved so heavily with Russia and possibly colluding. This is probably what Nunes is uncovering? And maybe what Trump was referring to? Totally legal on Obama's part.

(11,101 posts)1. Trump gets wind of the fact that a lot of the Russians he and his boys were chatting up we being tapped by the NSA, et al; 2. Trump makes the outrageous and false claim that Obama "tapped his wires"; 3. Now Nunes can come out and acknowledge the recordings, but instead of focusing on what was said, it is "vindication" of Trump's lie and, naturally, 4. when the recordings do surface, Trump supporters everywhere will talk only about sending President Obama to prison, worse than Nixon, blah blah blah and not about the fact that Trump is in bed with Putin and the Russian mob.
I don't think it's going to work, mind you, but still, it's still better than Plan B: Packing up the White House and heading to Moscow, Edward Snowden style. Credit where credit is due to Trump and his band of criminals.
