(58,719 posts)I think you have to be smart to really crack jokes that will entertain majorities of people.
Liberals make better comedians than conservatives.
Funny how that lines up.

(2,191 posts)I can't watch it on my browser, but they also include this exchange;
Al Franken, a Minnesota Democrat, is up next. He uses the opening few minutes of his question period to revisit the case of TransAm Trucking driver Alphonse Maddin. As a reminder, this is the case of the trucker being fired for abandoning his cargo in sub-zero temperatures. Judge Gorsuch sided against the trucker in an employment dispute over his firing, though the court found in his favor.
Judge Gorsuch repeatedly defended his decision while saying he empathized with the man. He refuses to say what he would have done if he was ordered by his employer to stay in sub-zero temperatures.
I had a career in identifying absurdity and I know it when I see it," said Mr. Franken, a former comedian and Saturday Night Live cast member.
"It makes me question your judgment," added Mr. Franken.

(34,483 posts)"Absurd" is a kind word to use here. Sounds to me as if the employer clearly valued cargo over the life of its employee. And what about OSHA???

(4,292 posts)Thanks to Sen. Franken for calling him out on such a shit-eating ruling.
GorSUCK is a political beast, and he will out-do Scalia, given the opportunity. Kiss Roe v. Wade goodbye! Kiss Brown v. Board of Education goodbye. He would gladly further enshrine and reinforce Citizens United. This "activist judge" does not belong on SCOTUS!
If the Democratic senators do not filibuster his nomination, they are condemning us to a fascist regime.
